Los Angeles:
Friday: Model, actress and former Nicky Hilton bridesmaid Bijou Phillips headlines the cult musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch tonight at The Roxy. Her performance has famously earned the much-coveted “Paris Hilton is tone-deaf” stamp of approval and Paris herself has seen the production at least three separate times! [Link]
Saturday: A free exhibit at The AMPAS offers a rare, Ryan Seacrest-free look at five recent Oscar ceremonies through the eyes of photographer Art Streiber. The exhibit, which closes on Sunday, includes rare candids of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including a pre and post-annulment Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise. [Link]
Sunday: Strangely (though deliberately) scheduled to coincide with Easter Sunday, the controversial documentary The God Who Wasn’t There will screen this morning at The Steve Allen Theater. Director Brian Flemming will be on-hand for a Q&A, eager to get home and decorate some Easter Eggs, I’m sure. [Link]
New York City and Chicago To Do's are after the jump.
New York:
Friday: Tonight Franz Ferdinand continues their sold-out tour at The Hammerstein Ballroom. Death Cab for Cutie is also scheduled to perform, so it’ll pretty much sound something like an episode of The OC. “Take Me Out?” [Link]
Saturday: The New York International Auto Show’s opening festivities begin today at the Javits Center. This year’s concept cars look pretty incredible, so consider this your last opportunity to see the new Bentley Continental GT before Ben Affleck buys a purple one for Violet. [Link]
Sunday: It’s no Macy’s Thanksgiving, but the annual Easter Parade has an almost legendary tradition of tying up city traffic as well. But if crowds aren’t for you, you can always Netflix the Fred Astaire version instead. It’ll make you seem almost as old-fashioned, I swear. [Link]
Chicago:
Friday: I’d tell you that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are performing tonight at The Riviera Theater, but you Yeah Yeah Yeah fans probably knew that already. Everyone else? Go ahead and give ‘em a try. Lead singer Karen O is very cool. [Link]
Saturday: The legendary Liza Minnelli will be signing copies of Liza with a Z at Borders on N. Michigan this afternoon. The only drawback, of course, is that you might have to buy the thing. But either way, don’t miss this opportunity to see what Liza (with a Z!) is like in person. I guarantee you will not be bored. [Link]
Sunday: Join emo-ish, punk-ish, post-hardcore-punk-rock-screamo band Taking Back Sunday as they (rather literally) take back Sunday at The House of Blues tonight. (Imaginary reward to anyone who can describe them without the use of hyphens.) [Link]
