SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT READ WHAT IS BELOW IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHO DIES ON THE SEASON FINALE OF THE OC.
Mischa Barton confirms her character on "The O.C.," Marissa Cooper dies and reveals what the show has in store for fans. The interview airs on "Access Hollywood," Thursday, May 18, 2006.When asked about rumors and reports that Barton's character dies on tomorrow's season finale of "The O.C.," Barton told "Access Hollywood," "It's true, it's true. My character dies."
The 20-year-old actress added, "I think the show is moving in a new direction. This was a great opportunity for everyone. I was just really excited about giving everybody a good finale. You know, they needed a big season finale at the end of this year and we've had three great years and my character has been through so, so much and there's really nothing more left for her to do. So I hope this fulfills everything that the fans want and everything that the people wanted for our characters."
Someone has just lost themselves a job.

Helen says:
You coulda made a cut for this one...
Girly Girl says:
I think the writers should have her choke to death on a cheeseburger.
tia says:
Im kinda sad her character is dying. Marissa always brought the drama to the show. Its going to be boring watching just Seth, Summer, and Ryan. They brought Marissa's lil sister kaitlin, but she really didn't do much cept smoke pot. Oh well.
Liz says:
Thanks for ruining that for me - you could have put more room in between the spoiler alert and the spoiler.
MrStyle says:
They need to kill the whole cast because that show stop being interesting after the first season. You can only walk the edge for so long until walking the edge gets boring!
Illinoise says:
The saddest part is that the show isn't ending altogether. This is an awful show. Try Veronica Mars, it's just as, if not more funny than The OC and definatly smarter. Seriously.
OCspoiler:-) says:
oh please it's been all over the news for days, her character dies of a drug overdoes. foreshadowing for real life?? hmmm
people seriously waste their time watching this stupid show.
Liz says:
Okay, Mr. Spoiler - you are right.
dina says:
good god i'm glad she dies. her character and oh-woe-it-sucks-to-be-me with no stable male figure in my life story line has irked me to death. POOR RYAN, dammit. that guy needs a good slice of cheesecake.
las says:
I cannot wait to see her movie career flop like a fish in its death throes.
Small Fry says:
I hope the rest of this show dies too. Prime time soap opera with horrible acting.....worse than Melrose Place. Bleh!
sec says:
Is anyone sure that she isn't BS'ing to throw people off? It sounds legit to me, but still.....
Montez says:
Well I personally appreciate Adam Brody's acting...but I think the show has potential to go a new direction now and either A) become popular again or B) completely flop...I guess time will tell...
OH and FYI...she died in a car accident.

Im saddened that Mischa's character dies.
This is a great show regardless of what anyone may say. It's one of the best shows on tv in that genre category and beautifully done. Superficial, but whateva! It's always nice seeing beautiful people in beautiful settings.
Marissa was the main appeal of the show without a doubt. And to all that say she can't act, grow up! She does/did her job on the o.c. justice!
I wonder what direction the show will take now,cuz all the other characters, none of them were as interesting and beautiful to watch as her.
It would have been better if she died of a drug overdose to add controversy,or something even more over the top, but still I think she did a fantastic job playing marissa.
She's skinny as hell, has no tits, but still she's fuckin hot!
I guess time will tell if she'll actually succeed at a film career. The only people that talk trash about her are probably the fat overweight ugly ass girls that are jealous and envious of her. That's how it usually works.
And while yes I am male and am attracted to her deeply, this has no bearing on judgement of talent.
I just wish she would have stayed one more season at least.
Im willing to bet the show's popularity will decrease greatly in the next seasons, unless they come up with a kick ass strategy, a hot new face and dynamic character that can fill in the void that's now missing from the show.
