Dude, Fridays are ssssslllllloooowww. I'm mostly running this one because it talks about how Jake Gyllenhaal was considered to be Tobey's "Spider-Man" replacement. So yeah, "Jake" and "spandex" were my driving forces here. Anyway, Maguire is allegedly reconsidering his earlier claims of giving up Spidey after the next one .
Perhaps feeling threatened by Jake Gyllenhaal, sources say Maguire has changed his mind regarding future "Spider-Man" flicks and says there's a chance he would stick around for the fourth installment under one condition:"It all depends on if there's a story worth telling. I feel very proud of the three movies that we've made. I feel like the stories all deserve to be told, and, you know, if they come up with a good movie, and the whole team wants to get back together, and we feel like we can make a good movie that's worth making, then I'm up for it."
The whole team may not return though. Even though she's already made three "Spidey" films, Kirsten Dunst says she's "not the type of actress who does movie after movie."
Dunst was contractually obligated to make the sequels, just like Maguire was, who feels a trilogy is an appropriate way to end the series.
"'Spider-Man 3' might be a good place to stop - I am not tied contractually to any more 'Spider-Man' movies. I would say the odds were in favour of this being the last one."
The article goes on to say that Spidey 4 is slated for 2009. I think they're getting ahead of themselves. And Kiki better check herself. These flicks are the only ones she's been in that make any money. People weren't tearing at the ticket counter to see "Wimbledon". And, though I liked it, "Marie Antoinette" was still a four hour Estee Lauder perfume commercial with an ok soundtrack.
More photos of Tobey Maguire with his wife and cute little baby after the jump.
