Jake Gyllenhaal Presents Jennifer Aniston with GLAAD Media Award in Los Angeles Saturday Night

"The Gay Oscars!" is how Damian Pelliccione ("Gilmore Girls") referred to Saturday night's GLAAD Media Awards, which were held at the beautiful Kodak Theater in Hollywood. Taleen Ananian and I were lucky enough to work the red carpet for A Socialite's Life, and have some great video interviews to share with you guys over the next few days (the first in a few hours). We chatted it up with Eva Mendes, Garry Marshall, Loni Anderson, Oscar Nunez ("The Office") and Jesse Brune ("Work Out"), as well as several of the cast members of "Ugly Betty," "Desperate Housewives," "Brothers & Sisters", and "Grey's Anatomy," plus so many more! In a word, we SCORED!

After an exhausting (yes, celebrities take a lot out of you) couple hours of red-carpet chatter, we made our way inside for the show, just missing T.R. Knight's heartfelt "call to action" opening of the show. But much more star power was still to come as Ben Affleck, Rebecca Romijn, Neil Patrick Harris, Rachel Griffiths, Garry Marshall, Sarah Paulson and Eva Mendes presented honors throughout the night.

The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor mainstream media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and the issues that affect their lives.

At the ceremony, Jake Gyllenhaal presented Jennifer Aniston with GLAAD's Vanguard Award. This award honors media professionals who, through their work, have increased the visibility and understanding of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Gyllenhaal and Aniston became friends while filming "The Good Girl" together.

I have to say that this was actually one of the most fun awards shows I have watched (that includes the "biggies" like the Oscars) with everyone seeming very relaxed, having a good time and really caring about bringing awareness to the work that GLAAD does. One of the highlights of the night (besides seeing Jake, Jennifer, and Ben), was Alec Mapa, who did about ten minutes of comedy in the middle of the show and brought the house down. "No, I'm not on "Entourage"! That's a different Asian. I know we all look the same to you but make a freaking effort, people!" he screamed. Yes, I know, it's the old "we-all-look-the-same" joke, but somehow when Alec does it, it's still funny.
