With the help of Employee Megan, I was able to smuggle myself into my first Us Weekly party and it did not disappoint. The event was the celebration of "Hot Hollywood" and Jennifer Lopez was honored as Style Icon of the Year at Sugar on Cahuenga in Hollywood. Unfortunately, I did not see La Lopez and hubby Marc Anthony arrive, so technically, I was waiting for tonight all night...to no avail. However, I did manage to spot Lindsay Lohan, sporting a crispy-looking blonde do. I have to say that she did look good in person--a lot less emaciated than I had imagined--and seemed to be on good behavior for the evening.

At one point, someone resembling Ashlee Simpson and wearing a gray dress and some precarious red pumps scurried past me into the bathroom with a pack of her friends. The problem with an Ashlee Simpson sighting is that Ashlee only sort of resembles Ashlee anymore, so it's hard to be sure. Pete Wentz was there, as was the little rock star guy I like to refer to as Avril Lavigne's husband from Sum 41.

Kimberly Stewart, a conglomeration of bangs and legs, accidentally bumped into our little group, but very politely apologized. She did not, however, apologize for the slew of bad outfits to which she regularly subjects us on a daily basis, but the truth of the matter is that we should be thankful to her for all the "Fashion Disasters" she provides.

When we made our way through the VIP section, to the little outdoors area, we spotted both Rose McGowan and Ana Ortiz from "Ugly Betty," both looking impossibly petite and stunning. I usually like to tell myself, "Yes, I'm not as skinny as these chicks, but that because I'm taller than most (5'8")." And that's around the time that I noticed the models walking by. Ugh. Despite that, when the waitresses started filtering through the area, carrying trays of cupcakes, any thoughts of not eating quickly disappeared and I'm pretty sure Megan and I were the only people in the place who gobbled them up with nary a thought of carbs on our minds.
So, even though I wasn't able to spot Jennifer Lopez, I had a great night of celebrity-watching and cupcake-eating. I just worry that there's some pic of me behind Kathy Griffin, jamming a cupcake in my mouth, frosting on my hands and face in the next issue of Us Weekly. Well, at least you'll know which one is me!
