David Beckham finally began earning his money last night. He took the field for about 20 minutes last night during the L.A. Galaxy's game against DC United at RFK Stadium in DC. He's not just a pretty face, you know. They still lost.
Beckham failed to lift Galaxy on the pitch as they lost 1-0 and then admitted that his ankle is still causing him a lot of discomfort and, worringly, that he expects to have a "reaction" to playing in Washington.He said: "There was tenderness [in the ankle] and I'm sure there will be for a while because it's not an injury that just clears up and gets perfect right away.
Despite the injury, it looks like the Galaxy is getting their money's worth. The stadium was at a capacity 46,686. And when does soccer ever sell out in this burg? They might have to start adding additions to stadiums if he plays with his shirt off. Look after that ankle, Davey, and don't let Cruise and his gay Scientology magic anywhere near it.
