Britney Could Have Given More at the VMA's

Gotta say -- her performance was actually painful to watch. She's definitely crashing under the pressure of public scrutiny. She's simply not sure of herself, and I actually feel sad for her. She's a beautiful girl, but man! She needs a personal trainer and a serious choreographer. I almost find it insulting that MTV would allow that performance. Then again, the MTV awards are possibly THE WORST of television. They suck! Totally unprofessional. Who the hell produces and directs that disaster? They ought to be banned from television forever.

I heard on the radio this morning that 2 days before the show that MTV told her that they couldn't get her act insured because of the high wire act she was going to do ( flying) so with 2 days to go she had to makeup a whole new routine. Also, they said that she nearly pulled out at the last minute because she heard that comedian's act and the trash talking she was going to do about her kids and told MTV to tell her not to do it or she was out and they did but she still said those things. So it seems that she had some problems and some drama to deal with right before she went on.

I'm no fan of Britney's but her "performance" was freaking painful to watch. And Sarah Silverman was way outta line and not funny.

Lisa... WHAT TRADEMARK ABS did you see??? I only saw an out of shape zombie! She would have been wiser to wear the same one-piece that the poll dancers were wearing. If she had she would have left more to the imagination and it would have made her look better. Plus a little spandex around her middle wouldn't hurt!

Ok, here's the deal I love this Southern Girl and always hope for the best. Maybe it's my (not-so) secret wish that I was her, but my God this was apocalyptic! My left testicle has done more dancing on Sunday night. The un-lip-syncing, the bloated belly, the off balance boots from hell, the crappiest award show ever...I'm surprised my TV did not explode. To her credit, the song is unf*cking believable! The performance I gave in my living room to an audience of me was a rock-solid comeback! At least someone won.

I don't buy all this pre-show drama that apparently ruined her performance. I think that's MTV trying to cover for what turned out to be a crappy performance. Her face was dazed, she had no presence on stage, there was no energy at all. I think she looked as uncomfortable as she felt. And if that was supposed to set her career back in motion, I think she's in trouble.

I agree, Rick. I love Brit Brit. No decent producer or director would have allowed that performance, OR ANY of those sh*tty performances! I was disgusted more with the entire show than Britney. But I certainly hoped for more from her. I feel for her. I'm going to have to go buy her CD just to help the kid out;)

I don't have a lot of sympathy for a fame whore who begs for attention. She wants to be in the public eye and she is. There's good and bad to that. She gets a ton of money but she also has people talking about her appearance, her talent, her personal life, her mothering skills, and so on. She's reaching out with both hands for continued exposure. She gets the drawbacks too.

She looked a bag of nerves. She needs to get in shape and stop dressing like a prostitute, but she is still very pretty and the song isn't bad , as pop ditties go. There is hope for her yet.

Maybe KFed was sitting in the front row and that put her off her stride.

If she was worth half of what she spent on her nappy, greasy extensions, she would hold off on a comeback, stop partying all the time, spend time with her children and GET SOME HELP. Britney's not my style, but she does have talent, she is pretty when made up and she has a bod. Her performance sucked because she's not a professional who can manage her life with discipline. The fame went to her head, she uses sleazy methods for attention and she has poor parental skills that could possibly land her in jail one day or lose her kids.

Britney has caused her own problems and needs serious help. Her mother and friends further affected her emotional well-being. She's trying to grow up alone, doesn't know who to trust and functions under a microscope. Without real family support, she's flailing at trying to be an adult and no doubt cringes as the barbs keep coming.

She could make a comeback if: she gets immediate professional help and does self-analysis; gets one of the best advisors, stylists, fitness trainers and nanny; gets spiritual guidance; and learns to appreciate the gift she's been given. She will need to give up the sleazy ways and acting like trailer trash, stay home and be a parent.

Silverman uses cutthroat methods to make a sale, which will end up costing her a promising career. No one likes ugly comedy because we all know it could turn on us like a dragon.
