The nominations for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Thursday, and there were a few newbies thrown into the mix of veteran nominees. Glee and Modern Family are happy additions (Glee scored 19 noms) and poor Friday Night Lights was granted a few this go-round. My mother often refers to me as “Another Country Hear From,” and the topic of television is always something I need to chime in on. Though I do love me some reality trash, I have my scripted favorites and a lot of them are on the ballot this year. Without further ado, my two cents on the 2010 Emmy nominations.
Notes:
Chris Colfer‘s nomination for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series is a good thing. Kurt delivered on the comedy and song, being the best gay teenager he could be. The “Preggers” episode alone should win Colfer the Emmy. The boy can kick a football AND dance? Hot steppin’!
Jane Lynch needs to win. She was nominated for a Golden Globe last year, and then was promptly robbed of a win (Chloe Sevigny? Really?). It would be spectacular if she showed up to the ceremony in a bedazzled track suit. You know, just to drive home the point that Sue Sylvester is here to pick up her award.
Entourage recieved no love this year. Perhaps it’s because last season was weak sauce. Still, Ari Gold rules.
Please just give Ryan Seacrest an Emmy this year. The poor thing works so hard and just wants a shiny toy to snuggle with after Idol is over.
I’m not done yet. Click here to read more from the peanut gallery.
And (My) Winners Are:Drama Series-Mad Men. Sterling Cooper hasn’t lost its sparkle yet, and I’d like to relish in these moments before the series goes to sh*t.Breaking BadDexterThe Good WifeLostMad Men True BloodComedy Series-Glee. Normally I’d vote for 30 Rock, but the cast of Glee works hard for the money. The amount of rehearsals that must go into each episode make them worthy of an Emmy win.30 RockCurb Your EnthusiasmGleeModern FamilyNurse JackieThe OfficeLead Actor in a Drama Series-Kyle Chandler, Friday Night Lights. I’m not a regular with the series, but I admire Chandler’s acting chops and think he deserves it.Kyle Chandler, Friday Night LightsBryan Cranston, Breaking BadMatthew Fox, LostMichael C. Alec Baldwin any time, on any program. “OMG, I thought he’d never leave.” Not a quote from 30 Rock, but you get the idea. Her character is as annoying as the day is long, but when the pipes start-a-singin’, we forget about the knee socks and animal sweaters. I’m so torn between Ty Burrell and Chris Colfer. Both get into character oh-so-well, and we can’t take points away from Burrell simply because he doesn’t sing. Let’s just say I want them both to win.
