Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice mentor Adam Levine went through security at LAX yesterday as news of Randy Jackson‘s biting words made their way across the internet. During American Idol‘s panel at the Winter 2012 TCA Tour, Jackson said that The Voice uses “second-chance people” and that the set “rips off” Star Trek with those nifty swivel sweats.
“That’s a little cheap,” Levine responded when he heard what Jackson had said. “People try out for whatever shows they want to try out for.”
“Naturally, a competition does exist, because the shows are similar … but it’s ‘American Idol,’ Levine told Zap2it. It’s not going anywhere. It’s the biggest show on Planet Earth. We’re just interested in doing our thing.”
The Voice returns February 5th on NBC.
