No, like literally. Akon claims he doesn’t know his age. A peek at the birth certificate would “depress” him too much, he says.
In fact, he swears by this not-knowing-age-way-of-life. When you don’t know your age you don’t have to “think about getting checkups and insurance.”
Like he said, depressing.
Since Akon’s rise to the pop cultural peripheral his age has fluctuated in various reports from 25 to 35.
In 2006 he said he was 25. But now he’s claiming to have been born on April 16, 1977. (Disregard the fact he said he doesn’t know his true age 15 seconds ago. Facts and credibility depress him.)
Akon claims it’s all a cultural thing (kid throwing, however, was not discussed) And he is going to continue to have a a little fun with it.
“In Africa … age is not important over there. They don’t care. People only focus on it here (America) and in Europe…I feel like I’m 21 right now. And I’ll be 21 for the next 10 years.”
If only Pamela Anderson’s face felt the same way.

Um, feeling youthful and not letting age get in the way of what you want to do —– fabulous.
Not worrying about check-ups or insurance coverage —— ridiculously stupid.
Sounds like he is in denial to me.
I bet he’s a real fun guy, signing contracts, in DPS and at income tax time.
I think not knowing ur age would be ok for some stuff, but if he is just in denial it is not a big deal who really cares how old he is.
