Jordin Sparks is being examined by critics of the national talent search competition, made suspicious by a series of coincidences. The young “American Idol” contestant and daughter of former New York Giants cornerback is being scrutinized for her pre-existing connections to the FOX franchise. BuddyTV.com points out the following:
-Sparks was the winner of Coca-Cola’s Rising star award in 2004, a sponsor of AI. However, it was later pointed out that there was no tangible connection made through Coke, Sparks and Idol.
-Sparks also won the Arizona Idol contest, sponsored by FOX, winning the grand prize of a Ford Fusion and an audition in Seattle.
-Another point made was the fact that Paula Abdul, who often probably forgets where she is half the time, was able to remember the name of Sparks’ father, as well as the position he played.
It just sounds to me like a lot of people really miss getting their fill of conspiracy theories since “X-Files” went off the air. Or maybe she IS an alien. An incredibly talented alien, sent to this planet to gain world domination through music. And that’s why I don’t watch Idol–mind control.

It doesn’t surprise me Paula Abdul remembered the name of her father. As anyone who’s ever seen the show can attest to, she’s bored by the women but is very interested in any man.
I don’t see the conspiracy theory, other than the girl is one of several hundred thousand would-be stars who have spent their entire childhoods in one competition or another. There’s no accusation that people haven’t been voting for her of their own free will.
Hey Chaz: I’ll put the accusation out there! Melinda Doolittle, who was kicked off, received far MORE votes than either other contestant according to dialidol.com. I think Simon was pissed last night because he realized the PRODUCERS (who are notoriously psycho on this show, i.e. how scared Ryan looked when Elliott said he wanted a Porche intead of the show’s sponsor Ford) made the decision on who would stay and who would go, not the public!

I agree with Samantha Jones. Melinda is a bad ass singer, but she doesn’t look the part of an “American Idol”. Jordin Sparks does and Jordin will win it because of that and sell tons of CDs.. I think they didn’t want a repeat of Taylor Hicks where they’re stuck with a great singer, but who doesn’t appeal to the teeny boppers. I think this was best for Melinda, Winning AI would only hold her back, IMO.

Whatever! Melinda was boring. Jordin has been the front runner for me for like 8 weeks now. She is amazing. It’s not like she couldn’t sing and her father got her there.
I love Blake hope he doesn’t win and gets to be himself and not put out another boring AI album.

wellll. the rumor a long time ago was that Blake was a plant and was going to win, which i dismissed at the time as nonsense, since he obviously sucked. But, fast forward to the present and, who knew, Blake is in the final 2.
If Blake wins, it’s fixed. He’s got no lips, no sex appeal, he’s gained 30 pounds and he slaughters songs by beat boxing in the middle of them. no way.

how is that a conspiracy? She won an audition for the show, and then audition and got on the show. I don’t think it takes a genius to crack that mystery.
And an American Idol finalist has won another singing contest (coke) how is that surprising to anybody…this is insane.
I’m not going into a lot of detail here, but Jordin has practically made a living as a professional talent show participant, including finaling on the last incarnation of Star Search. She’s been on their radar for a few years (like Diana DeGarmo, fresh off of America’s Most Talented Kids) and she isn’t the only contestant in the history of the show that was actively courted and pushed through the “auditions” to the semi-finals, regardless of the quality of their performances. All of this information is well documented elsewhere on the web. Idol is nothing without it’s manipulation.
No conspiracy…Jordin is great. I mean, Melinda is AMAZING!!! However, I can see Jordin selling records, appealing to the masses…probably why she got the votes. And her and Melinda may have been pulling from the same fan base and split the vote (both pretty powerhouse women).
Blake is good and he will do well post-Idol regardless. And he is cute…he’s funny…and he’s obviously appealing to young girls (maybe not whoever dissed him) somewhere. I like him and while I am rooting for Jordin…will probably buy his cd if he pulls a Kelly/Carrie…
