According to Fox’s top dog, Peter Rice, “We’re very sad that she’s [Paula Abdul] not coming back.” That said, the show needs to move on. American Idol will be enlisting a fourth judge.

In the meantime, during the audition part of the season, which start filming tomorrow, the show will enlist guest judges. Victoria Beckham has been revealed as one of the judges, and Katy Perry will also be appearing.

Rice went on to say, “The four judges were getting in a rhythm last year, and we will probably have four judges back.”

Rice continued, “We feel between now and [January] that we will come up with a solution and replacement for Paula. We are looking forward to the season. Obviously, there is going to be a different dynamic. We will be looking to bring a different element and different energy to the season.”
