Amy Winehouse Off To Jamaica To Capture Drug-Induced Inspiration

February 3rd, 2009 // 16 Comments

Jamaica — you’re up!

St. Lucia’s prudish, uptight culture is squelching Amy Winehouse‘s creative genius.

How
in the world is one to write an album without sufficient
pharmaceuticals? It’s cruel and unusual. This whole no-drugs-just-booze
culture isn’t cute anymore.
Amy is ready to get back to her roots, and jet off to Jamaica, where
the beaches are lined with “cannabis and crack cocaine” to record this
imaginary third album they continue to speak of.

We just can’t wait for The Sun to shake down Jamaican tourists and locals for some St. Lucia-style tales. According to the Sun, Amy is:

“Looking and feeling so much better and is worried about the bad
influences waiting for her back in London. She has written a big chunk of her new album and has told bosses she wants to
go to Jamaica to record it. The label is “fully aware” Jamaica is awash with drugs like crack cocaine and
cannabis. But the source said: “They are keen to accommodate her as long as she keeps
getting better and carries on working.”

Of course this all depends on the record label’s definition of “working” but we’re 100% sure Amy will “create” something completely unique in Jamaica.

Jamaica is inspirational. Dr. King have gone there to clear his mind and write speeches, so have many other actors. A part of the James Bond trilogy was filmed there and quite a few great artists have risen from those beautiful white sand beaches among them: Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and in recent times Shaggy.
As per your cocaine lined beaches, the same can be said for your beautiful South Beach which was probably built on bails of cocaine. Drugs is everywhere so you (Miu von Furstenberg)should refrain from the ignorance of thinking drugs is why she is going to Jamaica you buffoon

Thank you Josh. Well said. What an idiot!

You really are out of order.

“The label is “fully aware” Jamaica is awash with drugs like crack cocaine and cannabis”

I’ve lived here all my life and even I didnt know the beaches are awash with weed and cocaine. We dont have anymore drugs here than anywhere in europe or north america. Please be careful how you report such rubbish as fact

    EEEEEEEEEEK!

I haven’t even read the caption. I just scrolled down the page and actually shreaked out loud when that picture came into frame

  5. Amazed by your ignorance

Beaches lined with “cannabis and cocaine?” Really? That’s white sand you moron. And maybe you should actually credit your quote to someone so we can know who to blame for the buffoonery you’ve included in your article. We don’t want Amy in Jamaica, not b/c she would deplete our supposedly unlimited drug supply, but because faux serious journalists like you would follow her, and I can’t think of anything that would sully our beaches more. ‘Nuff said.

  6. Lisa timmons and J. Harvey are ignorant ethnocentric fucktards

where is that quote from? weed and crack lined beaches? how irresponsible, but this is a blog after all.

Shaggy?! Please tell me you are kidding! I’m not Jamaican but I could name dozens of singers including the homeless guy down the street that would qualify as great Jamaican singers before SHAGGY!

I’m not defending the person who writes the information on this site but what all of you have to remember is this is a gossip site. It’s not a site you come to for facts a true information. This is a site that basically rips on famous people. I doubt there’s much truth to any of these articles really.

You’re one dumb bitch for misleading people with your ignorance. Jamaica is not a drug paradise. Contrary to what you have written, we don’t promote the use of drugs and illegal drugs are not widely available. You are ignorant and uneducated. Please refrain from writing anything about my country.
