Amy Winehouse Taken to London Hospital

July 28th, 2008 // 3 Comments

In an all-too-familiar scene, Amy Winehouse was rushed to a London hospital yesterday. Her rep confirmed to Us Weekly that the singer had been taken to the Royal College Hospital.

The explanation being given is that Amy “suffered a reaction to medication” with Winehouse being kept overnight with a likely release scheduled for today. I understand that her rep’s trying to be discreet, but seriously “medication?”

Photographers just outside Amy’s Camden home reported that she had been convulsing and had an oxygen mask placed over her face as medical workers wheeled her on a stretcher into a waiting ambulance.

I honestly don’t know why some people find Amy’s downfall entertaining. This girl is in such obvious mental pain and doesn’t know how to deal with it except to numb herself with drugs. I think people forget how young she actually is and she needs strong, dependable people around her to insist that she gets the help she needs. She is a very talented girl that is also human and doesn’t need people to continually put her down and lower her self esteem even further. I, for one, am routing for Amy to get well and continue making the beautiful music that she does.
