An Idol Announcement On Monday: Is It Jessica Simpson?

July 29th, 2010 // 1 Comment

Despite the rumors about Elton John and Justin Timberlake taking Simon Cowell‘s seat on the judges’ platform on American Idol, new reports are saying that Jessica Simpson has been in talks to go on the show.

Sources are telling Entertainment Weekly that Simpson has been meeting with Idol producers on the regular and that the show is hoping to make an announcement on Monday at the Television Critics Association Press Tour day, which would basically outshine everyone else that day.

The only thing is…she’ll be too polite and won’t have the acerbic wit or criticism that Cowell brings to the table, and despite everyone saying he’s too mean, everyone has loved him for saying what he’s said.

I just don’t know who would be a good replacement for him though. What do you guys think? Has American Idol kind of run its course?

Simpson is widely looked upon as a laughingstock within the music industry. She can’t sing and is a stiff and unnatural performer onstage. I personally don’t believe Fuller would do this.

If he does it will certainly be the last nail in the coffin.

Simpson is a tabloid joke at this point in time, and comes across as desperate.
