The first couple of giving, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, seen here at the Inglorious Basterds premieres in Hollywood, CA on August 10, 2009, reached deep down in their bank accounts (well, deep down in their foundation’s bank account) and have contributed $1 million to aid the earthquake relief in Haiti.

“It is incredibly horrible to see a catastrophe of this size hit a people who have been suffering from extreme poverty, violence and unrest for so many decades,” says Jolie.

Adds Pitt: “We understand the first response is critical to serve the immediate needs of countless people who are now displaced from their homes, are suffering trauma, and most require urgent care.”

For those of you who want to donate, you can visit the American Red Cross website (the site is a bit overloaded, but it will load, so be patient) and making an unrestricted donation to the International Response Fund or by texting “Haiti” to 90999 to send a $10 donation.
