Remember when Angelina Jolie was talking about cutting back her work schedule to be a full-time mom? Yeah, well, we’re guessing that was just a phase because she has now officially returned back to full-time action-hero status.
The star, who is currently filming scenes for her movie Salt, is set to take on the role of Dr. Kay Scarpetta from the best-selling 16-book crime novel series by Patricia Cornwell.
If the first film does well, that would open up an opportunity for Jolie to headline a franchise. While no director has yet to be announced for the project, Variety claims Angie is on board. Yay! Since the character is blond, we’re guessing this means more wigs! And those are always a good time.

I’m sorry but Angelina doesn’t resemble Dr. Scarpetta at all (even she wore a blonde wig).

What???? I’ve read all the Kay Scarpetta books and never, ever, ever would have pictured Angelina Jolie playing her. MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have read all the books, and in no way does Jolie fit the character of Kay S…not only is Kay in her 40s, she is also short with blonde hair…no way

NO, don’t do it! Agreed, agreed, agreed, she in no way would emulate Kay, maybe her niece, Lucy, but NOT KAY
Rachel | April 24, 2009 at 7:21 am
^ She’s way too old to play Lucy, no, Angelina doesn’t have a part in this at all. I understand wanting to get a big name on board the project to reel in a larger audience but seriously, Angelina? As Scarpetta? I’m still reeling from this. Of course I’ll definitely go see the movie but she’s going to have to work her ass off to convince me that she was a decent choice.

Jolie will be about 35 when any shooting would start. Do people really think hair style & color is an issue? Could you be any more shallow? Please. Jolie shaved her head for Gia’s bald scenes. Didn’t she just take off for about a year and a half? Shooting one movie for about 3 months a year is hardly sweating it if you ask me. I wish I had that much free time for my children.
She’ll be great in the role. Strong, smart and serious yet still womanly.

^ It’s not shallow to consider that, when one is emulating an already established character that you LOOK like said character. She’s just not the actress that first comes to mind when most of us picture someone playing Dr. Scarpetta. For me at least I imagine someone along the lines of Naomi Watts, Angelina will just have to work harder to convince us that she was the right choice which is nothing out of the ordinary in her line of work.
