Anna Kendrick Is A Rising Star With A ‘Mandate’

January 6th, 2010 // 1 Comment

It’s no surprise that Up in the Air star, Anna Kendrick has accessorized her ivory strapless dress with a big smile on her face at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. The young actress snagged the Rising Star Award last night for her role opposite George Clooney in their highly acclaimed film together.

Forget Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart–supporting Twilight player, Anna, is the one getting award show buzz! (OK, maybe don’t forget them, but you know what I mean.) But even more important than critical accolades, Anna is getting work!

24-year-old Kendrick will next be seen starring with Michael Cera in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and was recently cast opposite James McAvoy and Seth Rogen in the dramatic comedy, Mandate.

The Hollywood Reporter describes the plot as “based on the real experiences of screenwriter Will Reiser who was diagnosed with cancer in his mid-20s and successfully battled the disease over several years.” Anna plays a young psychologist treating lead character McAvoy.

Sounds like the perfect blend of dark subject matter and awkward humor that worked so well for Anna in Up in The Air

DVD reviews: '50/50' has lots of heart
Missing from a lot of the season-ending award talk is the film "50/50," a comedic drama ... His best friend (Seth Rogen) and an inexperienced therapist (Anna Kendrick) become his support system, and through right and wrong, go out of their way to help.
Laughter is the best medicine in "50/50"
he has to see a therapist named Katherine (Anna Kendrick) who is a graduate student trying to earn her P.H.D. This is one of the best films of 2011, hands down! I don't understand why it did not get nominated for best picture at the Academy Awards.

Her performance in “Up In the Air” was unremarkable. She’s overrate, obnoxious, marginally talented and not that pretty. I wonder who she sucked or fu*ked to get that role?
