Audiences won’t be able to decided for themselves until November 24th, but there is Oscar buzz surrounding Anne Hathaway‘s performance in Love & Other Drugs, co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal. The actress does the “tough yet vulnerable” bit very well, which garnered her attention for her role in Rachel Getting Married.
MTV sat down with the film’s director, Ed Zwick, who was enthusiastic about both actors. Zwick told MTV, “They’re both very serious about their craft, and it’s funny when someone is very serious about their craft and what you’re talking about is comedy, so you have to temper the deeper colors with lightness. But they’re also both very funny people and lovely, joyful people, and I think that was part of it for all of us. We had to get to know each other very well, we had to trust each other a great deal.”
Hathaway and Gyllenhaal worked together on Brokeback Mountain, but only for a few days. This time, Zwick sent them on movie and dinner dates so that the two could get to know each other more.
The film is in theaters on Thanksgiving! Check out the official site for Love and Other Drugs for more information on the movie.
