Oh thank god this isn’t true! Page Six reported that Ashlee Simpson’s father, Joe Simpson, has pitched the idea of his daughter doing an album featuring covers of Michael Jackson’s songs.
Luckily these rumors were quickly put to rest. Ashlee’s publicist, Rhett Usry, told Entertainment Weekly, “The [rumors] are completely not true…Honestly I don’t know where they’re from. This completely fabricated story is very disrespectful to Michael Jackson at a time like this, regardless of whose name you’re putting it to. Furthermore, she’s in the middle of shooting Melrose Place.”
Sure I loved Ashlee back in the day, but if I had the choice between listening to her performing “Bad” or gouging my eyes out with knitting needles, I choose the latter. I mean sure, Ashlee and husband Pete Wentz have been looking pretty swanky lately, but it doesn’t mean she’s ready for the glory of the sequined glove.
