Monday night, Ashlee Simpson made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago. The wannabe pop star first took to the stage as as the musical murderess on London’s West Wend in 2006.

Shortly after being fired from her gig on the CW’s Melrose Place, Simpson announced her return to the theater by saying, “I’m honored to be reprising my role as Roxie Hart, returning to the stage and joining this amazing cast. Being on Broadway is a childhood dream come true.”

But no one appears to be more excited than Ashlee’s sister, Jessica Simpson. The former Newlyweds star recently posted on her Twitter account, “Roxie was all Heart! Watching her up on that grandiose stage made me the proudest sister in the world.”

Ashlee better hope NY theater critics are as friendly.
