ASL’s Letter From The Editor, Lisa Timmons

State of the Blog Address

Now, as you know, the title of this blog has the word “social” in it somewhere, which means that I’m supposed to haul my lazy rear end out of my kitchen/office occasionally to go on the hunt for some celebrities and celebrity-related items. And recently, we’ve become quite popular and we’ve been hitting the red carpet pretty regularly, and have been getting some free stuff in the process, so I honestly can’t complain.

As you may or may not have noticed, ASL got some serious coverage of the 2007 MTV Movie Awards over the weekend, with Wayne Ford and Taleen Ananian talking to the stars on the red carpet, and me in the “blogger’s room,” which is the journalistic equivalent of the little kids’ table, but hey, like I said, I can’t really complain.

Before that, I hit up the Pasadena Convention Center to check out the Backstage Creations Gift Suite created especially for the ALMA Awards, which took place later that day. I posted about it earlier this week, and my vantage point was from before the stars arrived. Since then, I’ve checked back with Backstage Creations and they filled me in on some fun celebrity tid-bits that took place after I left.

Of course, Paris Hilton was very sly to sneak into jail in the midst of us gathering all of the info from our recent celebrity events and nearly made it past us unnoticed. ALMOST, but not quite. We’re simply too obsessed to let that happen.

More from Lisa after the jump…

So, let me start with some fun stuff from the ALMA Awards Gift Suite:

oSalma Hayek came by and donated all of her goodies to PADRES Contra El Cancer (Eva Longoria’s charity). She stood in the lounge chatting away for about an hour with Director of “Babel” Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu…hmm, possibly working on the next big movie?

oJessica Alba stopped by to pick up a gorgeous clutch from MIMEKI.

oMario Lopez and Andy Garcia picked up some great items from Cubavera clothing.

oEva Longoria was delivered a unique bag with special one-of-a-kind items from a Susan Farber mini-clutch bag to a couture dress designed by Cecilia Perez Atelier ( Eva loves to support her Latin Designers….), as well as an Italian leather doggy carrier from Platinum Dog and much much more…

oCheech Marin, and Sheila E stopped by at the Hornitos Sauza Tequila Bar….a perfect drink to end a great show night.

oDaisy Fuentes and Eva La Rue picked up some great lingerie from Biatta.

oCarlos Mencia and Terence Howard picked up a great ipod portable speaker system-where you can view videos right off the portable screen from Sonic Impact.

oAlso the room was designed by Aera Studios, a great design team from Denver Colorado who livened the place with a modern touch- the cast from “Ugly Betty” adored it.

Yeah, so that’s how the stars are living, my friends. And I’m starting to slowly, but surely get energized into attending more events and bringing you more coverage (and *ahem* taking home more free stuff for myself–I gotta be honest!) I’m hoping (fingers crossed) to get ASL onto the red carpet at the upcoming BET Awards, which I suspect will be a blast.

Till the next fabulous event I need to share with ya!

In a good mood,
Lisa T.
