Atlanta Falcons Quarterback Loves Dogs

July 18th, 2007 // 94 Comments

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is one sick bastard. He’s being brought up on charges by the feds for illegal dogfighting. And I don’t mean he happened to be in his hometown for the weekend and he dropped in at a bbq where some jerk was staging a dogfight and it got raided. I mean this bitch was running Dachau for dogs. Didn’t he make enough money playing pro ball?

Vick was charged with illegal competitive dogfighting, which involves training pit bulls to fight against other dogs. When authorities searched Vick’s property this month, they found 54 pit bulls and a host of brutal items including a “rape stand,” used to hold dogs in place for mating; an electric treadmill modified for dogs and a bloodied piece of carpeting.

(AP)

Keep reading for more sick details, including doggie mass graves. Ugh. PETA should call for a fatwa.

Graves of seven pit bulls were found inside “Bad Newz Kennels,” a Virginia property owned by Vick. The dogs were allegedly killed after testing whether they would be good fighters. According to documents, dogfights would end when one dog died or backed down, and dogs were sometimes put to death by drowning, strangulation, hanging, gunshot, electrocution or some other method.

Sources say this “business” has been running since 2001. Now, no one sane finds pit bulls to be cute and cuddly. Normally they’re pissed off and trying to eat three year olds. But still – this doesn’t mean they should be enslaved in doggie death camps. What’s wrong with this fool?

someone with all that money acting like a derelict!

  2. Lauren | July 18, 2007 at 10:09 am

I’d like to put Michael Vick in a rape stand after reading that.

  3. Lisa | July 18, 2007 at 10:16 am

I sure as hell hope that PETA goes after him with a vengeance!!!!! I mean, they attacked Michael Moore by calling him fat, was that necessary?

Regardless if you are a vegetarian or wear fur, this case is truly reprehensible and if PETA ever had a reason to go after an individual, it’s this guy!!!

  4. T-Bone | July 18, 2007 at 10:25 am

What a disgusting pig! May everything he did with those dogs happen to him.

  5. Clarisse | July 18, 2007 at 10:32 am

Michael Vick is a disgusting piece of shit.

J., i have a Pit, and she is cute and cuddly! And loyal, and silly and sweet as pie! If you have never seen a Pit smile, you haven’t lived.

Fighters are bred for maximum aggression and are trained from a few weeks old to fight. It is ass-wipes like Vick that make these dogs into killers, not the dogs.

  6. Sheabee | July 18, 2007 at 10:34 am

that motherfucker should burn in hell.
That’s absolutely disgusting and severely disturbing. I hope he gets incarcerated and anally raped by his giant inmate.

  7. Zekers | July 18, 2007 at 10:42 am

Dang Sheabee, you took the words right out of my mouth-amen.

  8. cotton | July 18, 2007 at 10:45 am

I have an 80 pound pit bull that’s cute and cuddly too. This man makes me sick. God damn doesn’t he have enough money?

  9. Supermodel Hungry | July 18, 2007 at 10:45 am

I am not saying that I am entirely sane, but I have 2 pitbulls. My female, Belle, has never met a human or another animal that she didn’t love. We rescued her from being a bait dog. When she went into her first “season” she was tied to a post so two male dogs could fight over her.

I can’t believe that anyone could be as disgusting and heartless as Michael Vick. Bad bad things should happen to him and (my karma be dammed) I wouldn’t mind doing them myself!

  10. krystyn | July 18, 2007 at 10:47 am

thank you Clarisse. I have a pit mix and I swear to heaven, he’d sooner lick your face raw then ever show even the slightest sign of aggression

pit bulls are historically bred for fighting. They’ve endured centuries of treatment such as the above. is it any wonder you get some that still have that in them? And how is that theur fault?

pit bulls are a breed that are loyal to the death. they’re owner tells them what to do, and dammit they’re gonna do it…even if they die in the process. So, basically, they’re incredible dogs who fight and are “mean” because they’ve been asked to by their owners

  11. Jesse D | July 18, 2007 at 10:53 am

I hope that disgusting neanderthal gets tied to his own personal “rape stand” and taken care of the OZ way.

  12. NuggetBrain | July 18, 2007 at 10:53 am

My boyfriend has a female pit. She’s afraid of the vacuum cleaner, used to be afraid of lakes until we taught her how to swim, and is the sweetest dog I’ve ever seen. Seriously, pits can be aggressive but any dog raised that way can be aggressive.

  13. Czarina | July 18, 2007 at 10:55 am

This is sadism, plain and simple. I would guess that the only thing keeping this guy from doing it to people was…well, I’m not sure exactly. It take a special kind of evil to abuse any living thing this way.

If the Atlanta Falcons allow this disgusting serial murderer to play football, all animal rights organizations and animal rights advocates should stand up globally and protest the team. IN fact, since USA pro football and pro basketball have turned into sickening displays of greed, thuggery, rape and ego, then why not boycott all teams (if this guy gets to play again)? Use him as an example of what won’t be tolerated.

  16. Scumbag Hater | July 18, 2007 at 11:20 am

This dude is the worst piece of slime ever. get hiim out of his cushy NFL job and send him to prison where he really learns what it means to fight like a dog.

I’m gonna go hug my dogs (including my pit/chow mix), & tell them how muchI love them. They’re sweet good handsome boys!!
Vick will get his in hell.

  19. paige | July 18, 2007 at 11:29 am

just so u know… i had more than one pit bull over the years AND THEY WERE VERY CUTE AND CUDDLY. IT DEPENDS ON HOW U RAISE THEM AND UNFORTUNATELY ASSHOLES LIKE VICK GIVE THEM A BAD REP. PEOPLE WHO HURT ANIMALS SHOULD BE BRUTALLY MAIMED AND KILLED!!!!!!!!!

  20. Disgusted. | July 18, 2007 at 11:42 am

Strap him to the “rape stand”, then when he’s nice and bloody toss him in the fight pit with his own abused dogs, then when he loses, let him suffer slowly while he bleeds to death.

  21. Georgia Girl | July 18, 2007 at 11:56 am

As something similar the DIXIE CHICKS would say, “I am ashamed to say Vick is from GA.” I have never liked him(Not a falcons fan but a Colts fan). He is being payed 125 million dollars to be one of the worst quarterbacks in the league. And he is a terrible human being. I can’t imagine ever hurting an animal much less making them fight and killing themselves. I hope they kick his sorry ass out of the NFL and he goes to jail.

  22. Susan | July 18, 2007 at 12:20 pm

Seriously, think about the things you are putting on your site. Making the assumption that all pits are “trying to eat three year olds” is so sadly misinformed and idiotic. Also, it just exacerbates the stereotype. Pits are awesome dogs, I have two that are just like all other pits from well-adjusted homes: sweet, cuddly, and annoyingly affectionate to myself, as well as all other people they meet. I know there are news stories galore about pits eating babies, but those reporters also probably have no f-ing clue what they are talking about. There are some bad ones, but that’s becuase monsters like this inhuman piece of trash do horrendous things to them, and all they know is fighting. Most pits just want some smooches and a good snuggle. Please go to a shelter sometime and actually get to know a pit. I bet you own one in a year.

  23. Jen | July 18, 2007 at 12:29 pm

I never comment on these stupid things, however I felt the need to correct you on your ignorant staement regarding pitbulls. Do some research on the breed beforre making staemnts such as pits attacking 3 year olds. More small dogs attach children than pits. Stubby is a famous pitbull who was recognized for his work in the war. Helen Keller had one and Teddy Roosevelt had one in the white house. He was the president by the way you may be too syupid to know that.

  24. Susan | July 18, 2007 at 12:33 pm

Also, PETA is bullshit. If you have a pitbull DO NOT GIVE THOSE ASSHEADS MONEY.

Read this letter written by Ingrid Newkirk, the main asshead at PETA:
    http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2005/06/08/EDGDLD4G1S1.DTL

She wants all pit bulls wiped out, bottom line, no excuses. Totally ethical…

  25. T-Bone | July 18, 2007 at 12:50 pm

Susan – PETA supports a ban on BREEDING pitbulls, because they were (in the beginning) a man-made breed created specifically for fighting purposes, and some have killed. In other words, HUMAN BEINGS made this breed for their own purposes. Now they’re asking people to stop breeding for their own purposes, because they are not a “natural breed” and are being abused. PETA would never support the mistreatment of the dogs that are already here.

  26. Jorge | July 18, 2007 at 12:57 pm

J, pitbulls are cute and cuddly. My friend, who’s a vet, took in a two week old pitbull that was taken away from a breeder that fights them. He’s over two years old now and he’s the sweetest dog ever. He pushed me over while I sleep so he could sleep between my arms.

  27. SusieQ | July 18, 2007 at 1:11 pm

In response to T-Bone’s comment that PETA would never support the harm done to animals already here:

Although euthanasia is considered humane, do you not think killing animals simply b/c of their breed is cruel? At least give these animals a chance to be good. Without a known violent history, I do not feel it is right to systematically kill a breed of animals b/c of their reputation for violence. Any breed of dog can be aggressive and mean if they are raised to be so.

  28. Pamela | July 18, 2007 at 1:11 pm

Most of the time it is not the dogs that are bad it is the owners, same goes to children and parents.

I would like to see this guy tossed into a pit with is hands and legs tied and let a few dogs maul him to death..

Now there is a sport for you and it would save us all a lot of money housing his worthless thug ass in a jail for the next 6 years.

He better be glad I am not the judge because I would toss the book at him and everything else I had.

    Bastard!

  29. SusieQ | July 18, 2007 at 1:19 pm

Sorry, my previous comment requires some clarity …

After reading the letter referenced earlier, written by the president of PETA, I found that PETA supports the policy of animal shelters to systematically euthanize all pits entering the shelters. Ingrid does say that she supports the policy with reluctance, but nevertheless: that’s support.

I was attacked by a rottweiler and have scars on my face from it, but I don’t hate all rotties and think they should be systematically killed for the way they were raised.

  30. T-Bone | July 18, 2007 at 1:29 pm

I don’t agree that all pitts should be euthanized. Animals that go into shelters should be fully evaluated on temperament and illness before any kind of euthanasia is done. They should not be automatically euthanized by breed. But I do agree with the breeding stance. MY personal perspective is such that we don’t need to breed ANY MORE dogs — all breeds. People — there are millions upon millions of dogs and other animals out there without homes, medical care, food or love. We need to take care of what we have already. And since people are so ignorant about spaying and neutering their dogs, we’re probably never going to have a shortage. Take care of what’s here before breeding more “designer dogs” and dogs for personal use.

  31. Clarisse | July 18, 2007 at 1:38 pm

Designer dogs…ala, Puggle, Labradoodle, Cockapoo’s…aka MUTTS that stupid shallow people pay hundreds of dollars for.

I agree T-Bone. Love Dobies/Chi’s/etc…? Don’t breed them…Rescue, Rehabilitate and Rehome! If you breed or buy, you are not doing so out of “love” of an animal, it’s for status and/or money.

    LUV A MUTT!!!

  32. SusieQ | July 18, 2007 at 1:38 pm

100% agreed. I not only own a rescue pit from a basement fighting organization, but I am a foster mom for the shelter in my hometown. I take 3-4 homeless dogs home every night, just so they can have a roof over their heads, food in their bellies and love in their hearts. There are so many great dogs out there that NEED your attention and love!!! STOP paying hundreds of dollars for dogs, and go pick one up for free!!!

  33. Jeanie | July 18, 2007 at 1:41 pm

The sad thing is that those 54 dogs found on his property will all be destroyed. Fighting dogs aren’t allowed to be kept as pets. I wish they could be rehabilitated and given a new life, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. This guy has no conscience. I don’t know how you can watch/cause an animal to suffer and still sleep at night.

  34. T-Bone | July 18, 2007 at 1:57 pm

I agree Jeanie, how could anyone have such disregard for life, especially seeing these dogs as puppies? The only people who can look into the eyes of a harmless creature and throw into a ring to either kill or be killed are psychopaths. And believe me, our society is creating all kinds of them via our lack of regard for family, the elderly, parents, children, animals, land, the environment, God, and everything else. It’s no surprise. Michael Vick is just one of many.

  35. TeeDee | July 18, 2007 at 2:01 pm

This guy is a straight loser. I hope he never gets the opportunity to play football for money ever again. This should be the swan song for a terrible quarterback and even worse human being.

  36. Czarina | July 18, 2007 at 2:03 pm

I’ve owned both purebreds that I’ve gotten from breeders and dogs I’ve gotten from shelters.

The dog that I could do competition work with and the smartest dog I ever had came from the city pound. He was turned away by his breed’s rescue because he had a tail and no one in rescue wanted this particular breed without a docked tail.

The second sweetest dog I’ve ever had came from a rescue.

The sweetest dog I’ve had came from a breeder. And the sickest dog I’ve ever had – costing me in the multiple THOUSANDS in the short three years of his life — came from a breeder with a great reputation.

Bottom line, it’s a toss up. I’ve decided that the money paid for a purebred is not a good idea because they’re so overbred (even in the ethical breeder world) they are creating all of these horrible genetic problems. It’s rescue and shelter for me from now on.

  37. JaneSays | July 18, 2007 at 2:04 pm

Regardless of PETA stance on pit bulls, what Michael Vick has done to these poor animals is disgusting. I was literally sick to my stomach when I saw this on the news this morning. I don’t understand the ghetto-ass millionaire mentality that causes people who are as financially “blessed” as him to still behave worse than the neighborhood crackhead who’ll eat glass for a dollar! Everything about him is repugnant and foul and I hope he meets some nice friends in the pokey who are as familiar with that rape stand as he! Fucking bastard!!!

  38. Allie | July 18, 2007 at 2:07 pm

Oh Jay. I honestly loved you and your writing skills so much, until today. Your last paragraph pains me and as a pit bull owner and a mom of a 7 month old who loves his dog – it’s been real but I cannot be a fan anymore. God this sucks.

  39. Eff you! | July 18, 2007 at 2:14 pm

You are a stupid fuck for saying that about pit bulls. You should get your facts together about what you are speaking of. They are one of the best dog breeds out there, in my opinion. I doubt you could find a more loving or loyal breed. I’ve had a pure bred pit bull for 9+ years that’s as sweet as can be. IT’S PEOPLE WHO MAKE PIT BULLS MEAN – that’s what people don’t understand. Don’t blame the dogs, blame the people who cause them to be mean. Please quit adding to the improper stereotype of such incredible dogs.

  40. T-Bone | July 18, 2007 at 2:21 pm

Breeders breed for money, no matter what line they try to feed you.

Shelters and rescues do what they do out of love.

Support the homeless dogs already on the earth.

Boycott the Atlanta Falcons until they let this mad man go. The end.

  41. snuh | July 18, 2007 at 2:31 pm

I’m only adding my voice to the choir PRAISING pitbulls as being sweet, loveable, goofy family dogs. My 3-year-old niece’s best friend is her pitbull, Susie. Susie, by the way, was found as a stray in a rough (no pun intended) Chicago neighborhood, but even the cops saw that she was gentle and brought her to the no-kill shelter, whereas most pitbulls found like that would normally be euthanized.
PLEASE stop stereotyping pitbulls as killing machines! When you’re a sick lowlife bastard like Vick that tortures dogs, of course they won’t be friendly!

  42. Clarisse | July 18, 2007 at 2:39 pm

    T-Bone,
People need to know that they need to not only boycott the Atlanta Falcons, but also Vick’s endorsments.

Nike, Rawlings, Powerade and Kraft need to be sent the message also.

  43. T-Bone | July 18, 2007 at 2:44 pm

Absolutely Clarisse! Thanks for the reminder.

Let the Atlanta Falcons know as well what you think of Michael Vick. Go to their official website and click on “Contact Us” at the bottom right. It’s easy to do
    http://www.atlantafalcons.com/

  44. Henny Penny | July 18, 2007 at 2:50 pm

I hope they throw the book at this sickfuck. He and others like him that abuse innocent animals make me ill.

  45. brandi | July 18, 2007 at 3:06 pm

WOW! I have to say I agree with all of you. People make these dogs killers. Any ideas on how we can efficiently protest the Falcons over this Psycho??

  46. Mina | July 18, 2007 at 3:11 pm

Please, PLEASE, everyone call his endorsing companies – Nike, Kraft,Poweraid etc. and demand they fire his ass as a promotor and demand they remove their sponsorship. This sick fuck needs to feel it. How dare he!!!!!

  47. Eyes of Green | July 18, 2007 at 3:25 pm

We had a pit bull once, and he was very sweet, cute, cuddly, his best friend was our tiny tea-cup Taco Bell dog. One day, this loser drunk guy was walking down the road – well, he did this every day, drunk as hell talking smack to anyone who was around, and Hollywood (yeah, pimp name for my dog) tore the collar off himself and launched himself at Drunk Guy. What does Drunk Guy do? He starts barking at the dog, getting all stupid and just begging to be eaten. I was terrified thinking that I was going to be witnessing some dismemberment but my man finally got the dog under control. After that, I was scared to death of that dog. He totally snapped. I think the perfect punishment for this Vick Dick is to put him in a cage with all his fighting dogs, after covering him in steak sauce.

  48. Hokie Girl | July 18, 2007 at 3:26 pm

    1. this story broke like a month ago, when that fool cousin of his that lived there got arrested for something drug-related. The original story was that Vick had never been to the property, and the cousin didn’t dispute it. Now I see the cousin’s name nowhere on this case; I wonder why?

    2. what happened to innocent until proven guilty? Michael’s always had a good name here at Tech, and certainly didn’t get into trouble like his little brother did. Please stop stereotyping Vick as a pit-abuser, when you don’t even know him.

I’ll be sick if it’s true, because I have a lot of pit-love too. But enough screaming about boycotting until we find out the truth.

  49. Animals' best friend | July 18, 2007 at 3:32 pm

I just have to say that I love animals. I’m not a “dog” person or a “cat” person. I truly love them all. I adore ALL of God’s wonderful creatures and it makes me cry to see how mankind treats his creation.

*Remember to support organizations that work hard to end the suffering of all animals.”

  50. Clarisse | July 18, 2007 at 3:35 pm

    Let’s see Hokie Chick…

Vick has infected women w/VD but failed to mention it to them.

Vick has flipped off NFL fans.

Vick has tried to smuggle pot onto a plane.

Vick has skipped charity events and award ceremonies.

NOW he has been indicted on charges of RUNNING “a dogfighting operation includes gruesome allegations of executing poor-performing animals by hanging and electrocution.”

    GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!!!
