When she was very young, Avril Lavigne’s mother made her daughter sit down and watch Britney Spears perform, so that she could take pointers.
My mom made me go to a Britney Spears concert when I was young,” she confessed to Jane magazine. “I was like, ‘No, I don’t want to.’ She was like, ‘If you’re going to be a performer, you need to see other people.”
Meanwhile, Avril Lavigne’s opinion on the whole Britney Spears situation is less than sympathetic when it comes to hearing Britney complain that media scrutiny is to blame for her very public meltdown. The pint-sized pop princess had this to say about Brit-Brit, according to Starpulse News Blog:
“What’s happened to Britney is all down to who she is as a person. If you want a piece of this business you have to be able to deal with it. You can’t complain about the pressures, the paparazzi, the madness because that’s the job.”
Lavigne adds that she is able to live a relatively normal life – by concealing her private life from the press. She says, “No one really gets to know.”
I totally agree with Avril, because that’s also how I’ve managed to maintain the semblance of normalcy in my daily routine, despite my ridiculous fame. I’m not trying to live my life like a candle in the wind, if you know what I’m saying. If you don’t, that’s cool too.

Britney is SOOOOOO much more famous than Avril. Avril has never had to deal with anything near the level of media scrutiny Britney has. As usual, she needs to shut her stupid piehole.

I used to love the old Avril,she was cool and the girl certainly can sing.
I don’t care for here new style and would not buy here cd’s anymore.
I have a friend that knows a girl who was a very good personal friend of hers from high school in Napanee. Since she became famous she treats her like crap and does not want to associate with her any more.
People become very famous and wealthy and they suddenly think they are better than everyone else.
My advice for Avril go back to Canada.

I agree with posts #1 and #3. She is famous, but she certainly has NEVER been as big a star as Britney, and last time I checked Britney has never spit on anyone. If I had to chose between bumping into Britney out on the street, and bumping into Avril, somehow I think the Britney experience would be more pleasant. Even with all of her problems, she has always seemed to come across as a genuinly sweet person.

Her mom made her go see Britney when she was “young?” That’s priceless. She tries to make it sound like Britney’s so much older than her, like she’s from another era or something. Avril was born in 1984, and Britney in 1981, so nice try, Avril.

I agree with Liz Taylor when it comes to todays stars. If you don’t want the media running behind you then don’t put yourself in a situation where you know they’re going to be. Learn how to entertain at home with your freinds (if you have any). If you don’t like the press then get out of the business because it’s all a part of it.

Avril just thinks she’s talking from experience because she got married. Silly girls. They are SO silly. People don’t change that quickly. They change over many, many years and experiences, usually bad ones. If Avril’s marriage stands the test of time, I’ll say, “Bravo.” Somehow, I don’t think it will. Avril is just a kid and so is her husband.

i completely agree with comment #10. because she got married, suddenly she has ‘life experience’? she hasn’t had to deal with a single tough thing in her life. grow up, avril. and stop being so damn cocky.
