BET Honors: Excitement Over Impending Inauguration

January 19th, 2009 // 5 Comments

History is being made before our very eyes, people. Yes, yes, of course, our first black president is about to be ushered into office, but that’s not what I’m talking about. Did anyone ever believe that one day, we would see…Whitney Houston looking as fabulous and lucid as she does in this picture?

But seriously, President Elect Barack Obama was the hot topic of conversation at the BET Honors Second Annual Black Entertainment Awards. Big winners of the evening included athlete turned business mogul Magic Johnson and singer Mary J. Blige.

Playing hostess for the evening was the lovely Gabrielle Union, who looked glam in a simple black dress and cape. And whoah, Monica looks rather intense these days.

Featured in the gallery: Whitney Houston, Gabrielle Union, Queen Latifah, Star Jones, MC Lyte, Janice Bryant, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Hill Harper, Monica, Magic Johnson, Tyler Perry, B. Smith, Samuel L. Jackson, Angela Bassett, Anthony Hamilton, Joss Stone, Terrence Howard and Stevie Wonder.

wow she looks amazing. who would have thought that? I’m glad she recovered and looks better than ever. She’s kinda like a black version of Britney (with undeniable talent though :p), everybody liked to see her down. Her dress is beautiful

Most happy to see this lady again in top shape. The best talent of the last 30 years. Hope she hasn’t ruined her voice and will be able to give us new songs to remember. Good luck Whitney.

I just read a powerful article about Tyler Perry at http://www.ebmpublishing.com. The article was wonderfully written and showed a different side of him. It discussed in detail his approach to life and commitment to improving the community. It’s an engaging, thought provoking article that gave me a new found level of respect for him
