she’s a pig in general, but singing a religous song dressed like that. unbelievable.

  2. katalyst | June 28, 2009 at 10:35 pm

    Not impressed

  3. LT | June 28, 2009 at 10:54 pm

    strange wardrobe choice, nice vocal

  4. Grace | June 28, 2009 at 11:56 pm

she gives this EXACT same performance at her concerts. Everything is exactly the same. Saw it the night before she did this performance.

  5. lucifer | June 29, 2009 at 6:31 am

i am so glad that she is getting flack for this performance. her true colors are slowly showing thru.

instead of doing a tribute to michael or something @ least tactful, she decided to make it all about herself.

    typical.

  6. Tracey | June 29, 2009 at 8:46 am

    Shes so wack!

  7. SweetSoprano912 | June 29, 2009 at 9:29 am

I may not be the most religious person but the fact that she wore basically a leotard to sing one of the most beautiful sacred pieces of music just rubs me the wrong way. And why is she wearing a wedding veil?

    You’re not Madonna sweetheart.

  8. dolcejenny | June 29, 2009 at 10:39 am

    BEYONCE IS A CLASS-LESS IGNORANT OVER-PRIVILEGED POSER.
who sings religious songs at an award show!?

    with no pants on?!?!

    DISGUSTING no-creativity-having LOSER

Religious music is sacred, not for entertainment.

Plus is Beyonce actually CATHOLIC? probably not coming from TX or whatever so why didnt she bastardize some Baptist or other Protestant song????

  9. Reyna | June 29, 2009 at 11:02 am

I read Beyonce put the Jackson family as low class December of 2008. I thought she was a nice and sweet person. But never know behind the screen. And another thing why was she asked to sing to tribute Michael Jackson in the fist place? They should of had someone else that was close to him. My opinion she wasn’t the right person for it.

  10. MJ | June 29, 2009 at 11:53 am

I’m so glad that someone finally realizes the tackiness of her attire choice during the perfomance of such a religious piece. I was with my 12 year old niece, who just stared at the tv in amazement for a few seconds and commented to me, Auntie is that appropriate and started laughing. I was mortified! Who co-signed on this tramp outfit during a “dedication” performance??!! And Reyna, yes I did read the Vogue article in which Beyonce DID indeed trash the Jackson family and then 7 months later is emotional (when she accepted her award) and given the priviledge to perfomance in that monstrosity of a costume. That was tasteless to say the lest. This comment comes froma former fan. I find that she loves to put on that “I’m so gracious demeanor”, but yet her actions and asinine comments reflects otherwise. Remember her comments during the Dreamgirl frenzy of Jennifer Hudson approx. 2 years ago. When everyone realized Jennifer Hudson was the REAL star of the movie. There’s nothing gracious about her. It’s all a facade.

  11. Shelly | June 29, 2009 at 12:14 pm

Thank you Reyna for pointing that out, I was going to say the same thing. She is as disgusting as it gets. She trashed the Jackson family just a few months ago and is now trying to act like she was inspired by them? PLEASE. I hope she goes down in flames. And MJ I couldnt agree more. She is such a self absorbed media whore.

    RIP MICHAEL. WE LOVE YOU.

y do u guys waste ur time reading articles about her if u don’t like her….its quite sad and pathetic cause y ur sitting at ur computer hating on her…she doesn’t even have a clue who u are…and originally she was going to the Smooth Criminal but it got changed to I’ll Be There/Halo and then it got changed to this since jamie wanted to close the show with I’ll Be There….and jamie was the one who performing every five seconds on the show if u wanna talk about attention hogs and always promoting his concert…please get a life and stop hating on other people

  14. sallyAnn | June 29, 2009 at 2:27 pm

BeyonceFan: I don’t think its a matter of hating.. they are stating the obvious. She did have on a tacky outfit while singing a religious song. She did trash the Jackson family and then lied to say she was inspried by then.. which is it?

She has to remember if she is going to put on a front she should be able to keep it up.

Michael Jackson was important to alot of people. She is being a fake hypocrite to dog him and then show up as his memorial celebration. Shes a phoney.

It would appear that she is believing or own hype to me.

  15. Diva | June 29, 2009 at 2:44 pm

Beyonce is cool with the club bangers. But that performance last night was a train wreck. Her hair needed a relaxer and that outfit singing a religious song was wrong. And what’s with the damn semi wedding dress and vail???? That threw me off. Sorry Beyonce but that performance last night did not do you any justice sweetheart. It was terrible. I was embarrased for you.

  16. Grace | June 29, 2009 at 3:03 pm

At her concert the night before, she never said ONE thing about Michael Jackson. I thought for sure she’d at least say SOMETHING. While waiting for the show to start, they played MJ music. Even her opening act, RIch Girl, talked about MJ, but not Beyonce.

  17. why | June 29, 2009 at 4:12 pm

I don’t get it. First of all the song is religious in nature, second of all it was supposed to be a tribute to honor someone who just died, and finally what does she think will happen if she actually dressed beautifully modest every now and again?

  18. Shelly | June 29, 2009 at 9:31 pm

Beyoncefan get your head out of your ass. Does it bother you that people are calling her out for the hypocrite that she is? Are you seriously going to sit there and justify her trashing their family and then doing a fake ass tribute? She had MONTHS to apologize her her tasteless comments about the Jacksons and failed to do so. Why? Because she meant every word and is just looking to get some more ink c/o Michael’s death. If you dont think something is wrong with that, then something is wrong with you.

be serious am i the ONLY one who heard all them booes that beyonce was getting at the bet awards? when she got her first award for best r&b artist it was chops for her and did you see the look on her face lol

  21. Andrew | June 30, 2009 at 6:00 am

First of all, there was nothing wrong with the performance. Ave Maria is a beautiful track of of her album and she can sing it however she damn well please. No body had anything to say about Mary Mary who pranced on stage and dropped it like it was hot in skin tight jeans. Get over it.

And she really shouldn’t have made it an MJ tribute. It was ridiculously stupid for others to change their performance three days before the show. Thats why damn near everyone else sounded like and looked like crap.

SHe did the right thing, sticking to her performance. And why not make it all about her? She’s Beyonce. It’s allowed.

  22. Mykimoto | June 30, 2009 at 6:59 am

    @ Andrew:

Stop being an ass. Why wouldn’t BET change its show to respect and pay tribute to Michael Jackson? Its called honoring someone and I thought the show turned out great in that short amount of time they had. And yes Beyonce was out of line for, one that tacky ass performance she did, the horrible singing, and that nappy ass hair, and not to mention that she completely missed the whole theme of the show. MICHAEL JACKSON! Ok, even if she did decide to do her origional performance, atleast pay respects to the man. I mean how far up your ass does your head have to be. It doesnt matter, her flame is about to flicker out real soon.

  23. reese | June 30, 2009 at 12:26 pm

First off I will say that I love me some beyonce. I was all excited to see her perform. And when they announced her time, I blasted the tv and made everyone get quiet. Needless to say it was horrible. I actually love ave maria, its one of my favorites. but that was just a terrible performance. And I’m always the one to defend beyonce but I can’t do it for this one. Terrible, just terrible.

  25. Tee | June 30, 2009 at 4:48 pm

I agree with Beyoncefan, y’all hating on Beyonce, but when was it ok 2 come on stage n leather tights with ur ass out to sing a religious song (Mary Mary)? Yeah MJ music was good, but when they had Mr. Peterpan hemned up on molestation charges no 1 gave a dam! And u tryn 2 explain 2 ur niece about Beyonce, did u explain 2 her also that MJ wasn’t a white woman, and paying ur way out of molestation isn’t ok either!

  26. Mrs Susi Q | July 1, 2009 at 3:37 am

I am a Beyonce Fan. I simply love her voice. She sang very well. But
that outfit was just all wrong for
    what she sang.

I am not a young fan, I am a grandma’s age, and I have to say that
like most of the comments here about
Mary, Mary’s performance, I agree. They looked just as inappropriate as
    Beyonce.

    I remember M M mentioned that they
    were young, during their performance.
Well youth is no excuse for dressing
wrong. Wrong dressing just helps you
misrepresent what you stand for at
    least in these ladies case.

Mary, Mary really needs to dress
    better. Representing Jesus and all.
My bible tells me to be decent and in
order about everything and that includes dressing appropriately. I love M M’s singing. But the style of
    dress and performing was confusing.

In both these cases Beyonce and Mary,
Mary, these ladies need to do some serious rethinking about how to dress. Sad thing to me is that I know that they know the word of God.
I am still a truthful fan in both cases. And this is To the encouragement and inspiration of GROWTH. Ladies please? Ms Susi Q.
