Here’s one I didn’t see coming.  Would you believe me if I told you a Grunge Prince could fall for a Daisy Duke?  Well, it looks like that’s what’s going down between Billy Corgan and Jessica Simpson.  Yes, I mean Smashing Pumpkins frontman and Nick Lachey’s ex-wife.  Please, take a moment to absorb.  I took several.

It’s reported that Simpson finally connected with Corgan at a party last month in LA after she had, “secretly been crushing on him for months.”  A friend describes that on the evening of their first encounter, “things got more intense and they talked with their faces just inches apart.”  Here’s a hum-dinger: what on earth did Corgan and Simpson talk about?!  He’s a forty-something, moody rock star who’s been on-and-off with the likes of Courtney Love.  She famously confused tuna and chicken, and tweets when she is moved to “chillbumps.”

Seems like a joke, but it’s not.  “She has completely fallen for Billy and his easygoing, smart attitude,” says a source from her inner circle.  After an unlucky string of beaus since divorcing Lachey in 2005,  “she has fallen hard and is smitten.”  Although Corgan’s camp has been quieter on the topic, it looks like no one is denying their official dating status. 

A friend on team Jessica deems Corgan is, “just another in an endless string of Jessica’s boyfriends”, and believes he is, “too old for her.”  It seems Jessica’s friends are tired of the blonde crying wolf about each of her boyfriends being “the one.”  Another Simpson insider  expressed a, “worry that she is on the rebound.”  To this person, I suggest they worry less about Simpson rebounding and focus more on preparing the divorcee to be chewed up and spit out of Corgan’s midlife crisis.
