Chanel has released a second advertisement starring Brad Pitt for its iconic Chanel No.5 perfume.
The Hollywood superstar was paid $7 million for the 30-second advertisement, but the campaign has been criticized as being “cheesy” and smacking of elitism.
It’s a shame, because Chanel’s No.5 commercials are usually pretty cool — remember the three-minute-long “fake trailer” commercial starring Nicole Kidman, and directed by Moulin Rouge creator Baz Lurhmann?
Pitt appears in black and white on a grey background. He narrates, “It’s not a journey. Every journey ends. But we go on. The world turns and we turn with it. Plans disappear. Dreams take over. But wherever I go, there you are. My look. My fate. My fortune. Chanel No. 5 – inevitable.”
What are your thoughts on the commercials?
