What was Superman’s Brandon Routh doing prior to landing the Man of Steel role? He was working as a bartender at Hollywood’s Lucky Strike Lanes. Like many actors before him, Routh bided his time in the service industry. The hardest part for Brandon was working the bar during the months that negotiations for him to take on the roll were occurring.
But when director Bryan Singer signed on, he insisted that an unknown actor be cast in the iconic role and took months deciding whether or not Routh was right for the part.
The actor remembers, “I spent many days in anguish behind the bar serving drinks.”
Routh kept his bartending job at Hollywood’s Lucky Strike Lanes until he finally received the offer in writing.
He adds, “It was rough. Especially as celebrities and people came in. I kept thinking about accomplishing great things.”

sorry, but he does not do it for me in the least. he does not look like a young chris reeve AT ALL and i don’t think he’s handsome. his eyes are ‘off’.

I agree with all of you (and I’m a gay man).
It’s as if he’s tentative about something. Or keeping something from allowing him to relax when photographs are taken of him.
My guess is that he’s gay and trying to play it straight. His vibe is too off to be straight. That said, I find his look to be dull. He also give horrible interviews and holds onto that “girlfriend” of his as if his life depended on it.
Finally, Brian Singer did not hire a Superman that didn’t play into his own desires. My guess is that he slept with the Director to get the part. Makes complete sense.

Let the guy have his 15 minutes. He won’t be the first actor in an ‘iconic’ role to quickly sink into the ‘whatever happened to’ category.

The vibe you get from him was put out to a LOT of other people too.

he is a good actor. and this character brings wonderful and energetic hopes to people. It’s a fairy tales and tie up with imagination to all ages…keeps on Brandon Routh!!

Congrats for a superb performance. Never mind those detractors. the point is filipinos did spend part of their hard earned money just to see you in IMax theatres. And you didnt fail us. Breaking all box office records for this year in Philippine cinemas, that’s all there is we need to know. You are The New Superman.
