(WENN)

At 10:30 AM on December 30, 2006 on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles, R&B singer, Brandy hit a 2005 Toyota with her 2007 Land Rover, setting off a chain of impacts, which involved a total of four cars including Brandy’s. When it was first reported by TMZ, it looked as if Brandy were to blame for the crashes and now an update from the site indicates that Brandy was claiming fault at the scene of the accident.

“She got upset, talking about how it was all her fault … she didn’t stop, kept saying how she hit the lady,” says the witness.

He added, “Brandy walked in front of traffic, crossing the lanes of speeding cars, then she did it again. People were honking at her to get out of the road. She was obviously disoriented and highly upset.”

The witness also claims he tried to calm the hysterical singer, and even dished out some legal advice, saying he advised her to stop admitting guilt. He also consoled her by repeatedly saying “It was an accident.”

The witness also claims he went over to check on the woman in the Toyota, but couldn’t find a pulse.

Man, I’m going to go ahead and state the obvious that that sucks ass for all parties involved. I have this sneaking suspicion rehab is in her future. Not that I’m implying she has any kind of substance abuse problem whatsoever, I’m just saying it seems to be a good celebrity damage control cure-all at the moment.

Also, sorry for the pic that makes her look like she’s going to eat you straight through your computer screen.

Technically, it’s not her fault. Brandy was driving down the freeway and not paying attention to the cars in front of her that had slowed down. She rearended the 2005 Toyota which hit another Toyota before getting t-boned by a Nissan.

So.. legally, I’m pretty sure fault for the death would fall on one of the Toyotas for following too closely. It doesn’t really matter because, let’s face it, none of these people pays an actual price for this kind of shit (i.e., Rebecca Gayheart, Lizzie Grubman, et al).

More importantly, I’d imagine, why has it taken a month to hear anything about this? Brandy’s pretty irrelevant, but still.
