Reviews for the Baz Luhrmann-directed epic Australia starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman have been mixed. However, there is no questioning just how strongly London Times critic Melanie Reid feels about Kidman’s performance in the film.
To sum it up, Reid states: “Kidman is exquisitely accomplished at being awful.” Comparing the Botox-loving new mom to an expressionless porcelain doll, the reviewer gives the Oscar-winner full blame should the film flop at the box office.
In addition, Reid blames Kidman for spawning clones like Keira Knightley and Gwyneth Paltrow “with faces like atrophied dolls, capable of adjusting their emotions only on direction.” Ha! Apparently, she’s not familiar with the new-new face and why it’s supposed to be awesome.

Nicole only has an acting career because of Tom. She could never act. People were blinded by her beauty. She’s no longer easy on the eye so her true abilities are the focus.

Why do so many despise this woman? – I cannot remember her doing anything to offend anyone.
Was it due to the fact she was married to cruise?
Also that so-called film critic is (like most) talking utter bollocks. Kidman has had some great roles: dogville, to die for, the golden compass, the others, moulin rouge, fur, the hours….
I’m not being overly defensive but I just feel that celebrity’s should do/be something in order to incite hatred e.g. paris hilton still being allowed breathe
