More details have emerged surrounding the death of actress Brittany Murphy. TMZ reports that it was Brittany’s mother who found the actress unconscious in the shower.

When paramedics arrived, they quickly determined Murphy was in full cardiac arrest and immediately administered CPR. They continued CPR in route to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center — several miles away — and Murphy was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A neighbor of Brittany’s said she saw Brittany getting taken out on a stretcher with paramedics performing CPR. The neighbor said Brittany “looked dead.”

Brittany’s mother told paramedics her daughter had a history of diabetes. We have not been able to confirm if Murphy did indeed have diabetes, and if so, whether it contributed to her death.

Brittany Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, told hospital staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center he did not want an autopsy performed on his deceased wife, multiple sources told TMZ.

Despite Monjack’s wishes, the L.A. County Coroner’s office will perform an autopsy on Murphy.

Authorities have launched an investigation into her death.

Brittany’s family has released the following statement: In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy.”

Ashton Kutcher, who dated Brittany and was her co-star in the film Just Married, posted the following on his Twitter account:

“2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittanys family, her husband and her amazing mother sharon. see you on the other side kid.”
