Day 1 of the Royal Ascot in England kicked off with a plethora of colorful headwear. Queen Elizabeth ushered in another year of horse celebrations with senior members of the royal family, sans the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Unlike their fascinators at the royal wedding back in April, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie opted to keep it low key at the 300th anniversary of the horse-racing event.

Eugenie took a page from Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and went with a green lace Issa dress (which complemented her hair and skin tone perfectly). Kate’s been a fan of Issa’s design, having worn a royal blue wrap dress by the Brazilian designer for her engagement announcement back in November. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall took the “Kate inspiration” one step further and recycled her cream coat. Camilla wore that very same coat to the royal wedding April 29th.
The rest of the royal cling-ons wore giant hats to rival their Kentucky counterparts over here in the states. The degree of ridiculousness both astounds and fascinates me. Don’t get too overwhelmed by these pieces de art, my friends. Tomorrow is Ladies Day at the event, according to the Daily Mail, which is “one of the most popular days of the meet, with extravagant outfits and hats on display for the annual festival of fashion.” Hurrah!

i wonder why camilla doesn’t get her front tooth fixed?
Their economy is crappy too. I applaud her for wearing a beautiful (and probably expensive) outfit twice. EVERYONE saw what she wore during the Royal Wedding, so it was obvious she was making a statement. Love that.
