Cate Blanchett Headed Home For Sydney Film Festival

June 10th, 2007 // 3 Comments

Cate Blanchett showed her affection for Australian film by attending the opening gala of the Sydney Film Festival. She was by far the biggest celebrity in attendance.

Blanchett stars in In The Company Of Actors, a behind-the-scenes documentary of her performance in Hedda Gabler with the Sydney Theatre Company.

Other anticipated Australian films include Lucky Miles, a comedy about three boat people trying to elude capture in Australia, and West, a drama based on two cousins growing up in Sydney’s western suburbs.

The festival runs until June 24.

Does anyone remember Joan Chen from “Twin Peaks?” She played Josie Packard on the first season on the show. Anyway, she looks as beautiful and timeless as ever. She’s in Sydney because her film “The Home Song Stories,” in which she plays a glamorous Shanghai nightclub singer who brings her young family to Australia in 1964, is showing at the festival.
