Today is Wear Purple for Peace Day. You’d think that this day originated in protest of a particular war or conflict. However, the “holiday” takes on a more out of this world tone.

It seems some of you out there fear that aliens from outer space consider earthlings to be too hostile. As a result, they have yet to visit or make contact with us. So, some of you decided to promote world peace by establishing Wear Purple for Peace Day.

Tons of fan favorites hit the red carpet at the CW Upfronts in New York City today, include the recently broken up couple Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder (who posed adorably with Joseph Morgan). The didn’t pose together on the red carpet, but did appear together on stage at the event.

Joining them at the upfronts were Arrow‘s Stephen Amell (he needs to learn how to loosen up on the red carpet), Susanna Thompson, David Ramsey and Katie Cassidy. Plus stars from The Carrie Diaries, Beauty and the Beast, Hart of Dixie and more! My only question is, where were Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki?
