Scarlett Johansson And ‘Cat On A Hot Tin Roof’ Reviews [PHOTOS]

January 18th, 2013 // Leave a Comment

Scarlett Johansson took a bow on opening night of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof at the Richard Rodgers Theater in New York last night (January 17th), unaware that dismal reviews were just hours from going to press.

Though the Telegraph told theater-goers that they would not be disappointed by the New York native’s ”charismatic, if at times, slightly breathless performance,” the Financial Times criticized Johansson for her “little insight into the character” (via the BBC).

Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribute had this to say:

Aside from the startling flashes of vulnerability that tear the carapace of Ms. Johansson’s Maggie, there’s scant evidence of subtext, of the thoughts behind the blustery facades.

In this production only Ms. Johansson suggests the tempest in the human heart.

Oh, theater critics.  Read More »

Matt Bomer & Nick Jonas Looking Incredibly Handsome At The Opening Night Of ‘Cat On A Hot Tin Roof’ [PHOTOS]

January 18th, 2013 // 5 Comments

Really, where does one begin when a red carpet has both Matt Bomer and Nick Jonas looking super sexy in suits?

Two of our favorite stars dressed up and headed out to Broadway for the opening night of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. The current revival stars Scarlett Johansson in the leading role, which basically means she spends most of the play in her negligee spewing out Tennessee Williams‘ word of brilliance.

Both Matt and Nick looked fabulous–as per usual. I wonder if Matt is wearing any of the fancy new male accessories he’s designing! Anybody else love how theatrical both Matt and Nick are? So cute. Guess which other stars hit the red carpet for opening night?  Read More »

Scarlett Johansson Plays Maggie In ‘Cat On A Hot Tin Roof’ [PHOTOS]

December 21st, 2012 // 1 Comment

Stepping into a role immortalized by Elizabeth Taylor and Brenda Walsh, Scarlett Johansson did her best “Maggie The Cat” in preview performaces for Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.

The play, put on at Richard Rogers Theater in New York for 15 weeks only, is not Johansson’s first rodeo on Broadway; She won a Tony back 2010 for A View From The Bridge.

“I think her sexuality is often overplayed and over-appreciated,” Johansson recently told the Huffington Post about playing Maggie.  ”It’s such an unimportant part of this story.  Read More »

Broadway Cast Of ‘The Mystery Of Edwin Drood’ Loves The ‘Bustle Fluffah’ [VIDEO]

'The Mystery Of Edwin Drood' Presents 'Bustle Fluffah'
Think Kim Kardashian has got a big bottom?

Here’s a fact about theater people: when you gather a large group of them for a long period of time–especially in period costumes–they’re gonna start to get wild! And sometimes that shows itself in YouTube videos of the cast shaking their asses around, like in this video from the Broadway cast of The Mystery Of Edwin Drood.

The musical is set in 1800s England, so let’s just say that there was indeed a plethora of women with incredibly large behinds. Although unlike the big butted women of today like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, these big bums were achieved with what they affectionately refer to in this video as the “bustle fluffah.”

Basically, it’s amazingly talented people doing crazy dance moves and rapping all while wearing 19th century clothes. Check out the video above and tell us what you think in the comments. I can’t get the song out of my head!

It’s been an exhausting few weeks forCoco, both professionally and personally.  She took over for Peep Show duties from Holly Madison in Las Vegas, and things seems to be going well.

What did not go over well were a bunch of photos posted on Twitter showing Coco getting flirty with rapper AP.9, a gentleman who is not her husband, Ice-T.

The reality couple, married since 2001, seem to be weathering the storm and put on a united front in New York last week at a gallery opening.

Anyhoo, Coco’s super-jazzed about her new gig at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, a topless adult review that allows Coco to show off her dance moves.

Media night for the show was held last night (December 17th), and Coco gave an interview to Vegas.com about her new gig.

Peep Show is a naughty spin on nursery rhymes, and follows the story of Bo Peep, an insecure who must learn to embrace her sexuality through the characters she meets.

Coco had no problem stripping down for the role.  Read More »

This Christmas, one of the most populated places, outside of our own homes, will be the movie theaters around the country to see Les Miserables. With an all-star cast, a fiercely loyal fan base, and raving review as of now, the film will surely be the hit of the season.

The director of the film, Tom Hooper, seemed to cast a perfect bunch to play the iconic characters, mixing big name stars with the chops to take on the role, and newcomers that are up to their ears in promise and talent. One of the newcomers who is sure to blow up, come Christmas, is the classically-trained Eddie Redmayne who plays the young soldier character, Marius.

The 30 year old actor got a taste of the spotlight when he starred in the awards-magnet movie, My Week With Marilyn, last year. But as soon as the world sees Redmayne onscreen as the innocent and endearing Marius, a spotlight will be following him around non-stop. Awards Daily caught up with the actor to get the details on how he got the role of a lifetime, and how it’s going to affect his bright future. Read More »
