Chaz Bono seemed absolutely chipper last night as she walked the red carpet with girlfriend Jennifer Elia at Outfest, the country’s largest festival of gay/lesbian/transgender-themed films.
After revealing in June that she was undergoing a sex change operation to become a man, Chaz, the son of Cher and the late Sonny Bono, has been relatively private. Occasionally he’s caught on his way to gym or something, so it was great to see him out last night. Kristen Schaffer, Outfest’s executive director, told RadarOnline, “Chaz’s ‘coming out’ as transgender is wonderful for the LGBT community as it not only increases transgender visibility, but also shows that we should never compromise our own identity.”
Other celebs that joined Chaz and his quite lovely girlfriend Jennifer on the red carpet include Christina Ricci, Benjamin Bratt, Diane Lane, Josh Brolin, Lisa Kudrow, and Tabatha Coffey. Overall, I’d say it looked like quite a fun event. Outfest continues its run in Los Angeles until July 19.
