Oddly enough, Chris Brown might actually cash in on this whole domestic abuse scandal. While his lawyers hustle to dodge felony charges and jail time, the rapper is spending all week locked in the music studio with producers – and Rihanna.
In addition to penning a book about domestic abuse together, the toxic couple are writing a duet for
Chris’ new album, which is due out later this year. And the day it
comes out, people, feel free to keep your credit cards under wraps.
I’m imagining kind of a Beyonce & Jay-Z/ Bonnie &
Clyde scenario, except when Chris raps “it’s trippy
how hard she rides with me” – he means it.
But seriously. I mean, I guess if Chris does go to therapy, and
manage to keep his hands off RiRi, this song could be something that
appeals to people as a kind of testimony as to why abuse happens, why it’s
bad, how to overcome it, etcetera. Kind of like Tupac rapping about the ghetto and religion at the same time. But that’s a best case scenario.
As for Rihanna’s duet motives – well, she’s just blowin’ off steam. “You have to
remember, she’s a kid still,” her producer said. “So with anybody
who goes through something in the world, you have to bring yourself out
of it…I guess her refuge is her music.” Um, what about seeking
refuge from the dude who caused the “something” she’s going through???
