If you ever wanted to know what working with Christian Bale is like, please listen to the following audio. It’s from the set of Terminator: Salvation. And apparently a director of photography walked into the scene twice. Batman flips out. Batman flips out to a whole ‘nother level. It sounds like Batman would have choked the shit out of this guy. And maybe Robin. At one point, it sounds like he lunges for the dude.
In the audio, Bale threatens to quit the set. Sources say that the producers sent the tape to the film’s insurance company in case Bale beat feet.

i get him getting frustrated cause i do believe art is serious work and the DP sounded clueless, but man this isn’t brain surgery. get over it. he was a child actor and it seems he’s another whose life wasn’t realistic once he got famous and thinks he’s god. get over it. so you saw him in the scene. so what. is the world gonna end? then get over it.

I believe, the last time I looked at one of his pictures…he looked HUMAN. So, he is subject to faults just like the rest of us. Unless some of us think we are to perfect, and don’t get upset and are always in control. He lost his temper. End of story.

yeah sure he’s only human, I mean this sort of behavior is TOTALY ok right? lol … Dont know what is worse the fact that I lost respect for someone I’ve been a fan of for AGES or that people ACTUALLY think its OK for a human being to speak to someone else like that .. Nearly 4 minutes worth of F.. and for NOTHING! The guy wasnt even in front of the camera poor dude was probably walking behind trying to fix a light and Bale went off because he “distracted” him? What the hell people.. There is no reason worth of receiving that type of verbal abuse from a primadona with a giant ego.. If people just think its ok for this to happen then we really are close to end of days folks..

I would’ve knocked his teeth straight down his throat, if I were the DP. He’s got some nerve openly threatening the man, thinking it’ll be Okay because he’s a big movie star. Bale was barely on the radar before he made it big in the Batman movies. Now he believes that he’s justified in doing this? Not so. Flipping out about things doesn’t make ANYONE respect you, it just makes everyone talk about you badly the moment your back is turned. I hope he’s happy, cuz’ that’s what happening right now. Be a man, make your point, voice your annoyance, and then move on, instead of going off on a Naomi Campbell-style breakdown.

There are plenty of people in the entertainment business who actually work, make good money, and put up with everyone else’s bullshit without being a complete egotistical asshole and acting like a fucking baby in front of an entire crew.
Bale apparently is not one of those people. Good to know.

McG is to blame for this getting out of hand. He should have taken over and calmed Bale down. When an actor is running the film set like that, things have gotten out of hand.
Bale needs to have some perspective. People screw up, it happens. Instead of saying “Dude, get out of the shot,” or giving some kind of warning, he justs explodes. I’m dure Bale gets it all on one take, every shot, eh?
And calling an ASC Director of Photograpy an amateur really showed a lack of class. A DP is very high on the food chain on any set. When the DP said he was sorry, that should have been the end of that. But since this was one tape and the whole world is hearing it, including Bale, maybe he can realize was a complete d!ck he was and learn from it.

I used to be a big fan of this guy, but now he can go and F himself. He’s clearly a major a-hole with no regard for anyone. Oh, they have to shoot the scene over, oh, oh, oh! How horrible! That rant was ridiculous and inexcusable. I feel so bad for Bale’s victim. If it was me, I would have told CB to drop dead, even if I lost my job. He thinks much too highly of himself and I have lost all respect for the man. I used to admire his looks and talent, but that’s all gone now. He’s made himself ugly. Bye, Christian! Can’t tolerate you anymore and you did this to yourself. Have some respect for your fellow humans, you arrogant ass. And to the guy he abused–I’m sorry you had to put up with that.

Bale is known for attacking his fellow cast mates. This asshole is known for having a short fuse both on and off set. This has nothing to do with art just an over indulged actor who lacks professionalism.

It sounds like the DP was doing it for a while and more than once and Bale held it all in and finally flipped out. Personally, I think there’s more to it than one tiny mistake. If I was on a conference call with a client and someone in the room was fucking around I’d get rather angry myself. So he yells at him. Big deal.

I think he was justified. Getting angry with someone for screwing up more than once, is pretty understandable. After reading some more reports, this happenend during an emotional scene too.
Wow, imagine getting yourself into that moment, emotionaly, then getting thrown in the face with water, because that’s what the DP basicaly did, more than once.
I would have slapped the guy.

To all of you saying that you think it was okay for Bale to talk to someone like that, I’d hate to see what you’re like when you get angry. It is not okay to speak to someone like that. He acted like the DP was someone totally beneath him but with all that swearing and being totally classless he showed himself to be beneath the DP. I can’t believe how long he went on about it. He should of built a bridge and gotten over it. The DP is a human being just like Bale is a human being and everyone makes mistakes as I am sure Bale has many times (going off at his mum and sister ring any bells). There was absolutely no excuse for what he did. Tool.

I can understand the frustration he had, but to take it out in such a childish way? dude, get the fuck over, so you have to do one more take, you’re probably on your 30th take by now anyway, and between you and me Mr Bale, you lack acting skills. Some say there is no such thing as a bad actor, only bad direction… except in Mr Bale’s case.
If I ever have the ‘pleasure’ of working with you on a shoot, rest assured, I will the the 3rd AD to piss in your coffee. THIS you can rely on.
