“Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer.
Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the
cancer is not life threatening,” her rep said in a statement.
The Emmy nominee for Samantha Who? recently mourned the loss of her on again and off again boyfriend, photographer Lee Grivas, to a drug overdose last month.
In some morose irony, Applegate is set to appear on the Stand Up For Cancer telethon on Sept. 5 alongside celebrities like Meryl Streep, Sally Field and others.
Christina’s mom Nancy Priddy is a breast cancer survivor.

Hi Christina,
I hear your pain and understand.
In March of 2008 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
My surgeon studied the pathology report and realized it
was not an aggressive cancer.
In May I had a mastectomy by my wishes.
So many said don’t do it will take months to recuperate.
Instead of having a lumpectomy and chemo and radiation for weeks I chose the other.
With proper nutrition and TONS of sleep I feel wonderful.
They are doing incredible things.
As my surgeon finished ~ my plastic surgeon placed a prosthetic
onto my breast. I had enough skin for him to make a new girl.
It will be 5 weeks now and I see him weekly for reconstruction.
This is important ~ the sentinal node was clear. Meaning that is the main branch of all lymph nodes are clear and it did not spread.
BUT do make sure you do have an MRI of the brain with contrast.
It is common for micro cancers to go to the brain with breast cancer.

Thanks for your concern.
In November I had my reconstruction and reduction. A plastic surgeon with incredible skill made me smile.
So far I am cancer free.
