CNN Anchor Heard Chit-Chatting In The Restroom

August 30th, 2006 // 3 Comments

When Kyra Phillips, CNN anchor, went to the bathroom yesterday completely unaware that the audio from her microphone was being broadcast live. From The New York Daily News:

The mortifying episode came when Phillips stepped away from her desk during coverage of President Bush’s Hurricane Katrina anniversary speech. Viewers saw Dubya’s lips moving, but they heard Phillips pulling down a zipper and making girl talk with another woman in the rest room. “I have the most handsome man,” Phillips gushed. “Just a really passionate, great, great human being. And they exist! They are hard to find, but they are out there.” Phillips’ sister-in-law didn’t get such positive treatment. “I’ve gotta be protective of [my brother],” she was heard saying as she washed her hands. “He’s married, three kids, but his wife is just a control freak!”

Hopefully, for her sake, she’ll be able to make amends to her sister-in-law in time for the holidays. Otherwise, she’s in for a hell of a Thanksgiving. Although, I suppose it could be worse. She could have been talking about an uncomfortable gynecological condition or something like that. Gotta see that glass half-full…

This sounds like something that would happen to me. I swear I was born with my foot in my mouth.

D’oh!!! How embarrassing!! Still, it was probably more interesting than the lies falling out that pie-faced psuedo president.

Gee, you know, it could have been much worse. That was pretty tame dialogue considering. No bad language was used, and we all have said things about our sisters-in-law, haven’t we?

    She’ll recover just fine.
