Because Cory Monteith plays football player turned reluctant musical star, Finn Hudson, on the FOX musical Glee, comparisons to Zac Efron‘s Troy Bolton from High School Musical.

Monteith tells E! Online, “I’m not Zac Efron! That was the biggest and most welcome change to my life–that I don’t have to explain the show and explain how it’s not like High School Musical anymore. Now everyone’s seen it for at least five minutes!”

However, this new fame doesn’t mean that Cory is going to be hitting up the club scene any time soon. “I have no real place to be at [clubs]. This is cool ’cause it’s chill, and I can kind of work and talk about the show, do press and still hangout with my homeboys and play video games,” the on-screen jock asserts.

For NOW. It’s all fun and games until Paris Hilton gets her hooks into him.

Woo! Go Cory! Glee is nothing like HMS, it actually has class and a point; so much better than HMS. I love his quote about HMS though. ‘Glee is High School Musical if you beat it up and stole it’s lunch money’.
