Courtney Love has been cleaning it up lately and trying to take on a different persona. We’ve seen this before, but this time I have a good feeling about Courtney Michelle. I barely recognized her as she headed into Dave Letterman on Tuesday (April 27) with a clean shirt (that cigarette helped) and exiting in a lace dress (face dimples helped).
Love, who is doing the talk show rounds to promote her new CD Nobody’s Daughter, went on Jimmy Kimmel where she talked about her childhood audition for the Mickey Club. At around age 7 or 8, she hated the name Courtney, so she changed to to Coco and took her stepfather’s last name to become Coco Rodriguez. Little Coco got on the bus the Seattle and though you might have guessed she sang, she went a different direction. “I read a Dorothy Parker poem and a Sylvia Plath poem about incest, which I had no idea what it was about until many years later.” And that was the beginning of many inappropriate moments to come.
My, how life might have been different had little Coco been a mouseketeer. She might have stayed off the drugs, not let her life fall off track…oh right, I can’t believe I almost forgot about her. Well, Mickey’s just a mouse, not a miracle worker.
Anyway, she also credits her fashion change to consultations with Vogue Editor and ANTM judge André Leon Talley, which if Bravo is listening, I would probably watch.
Check out the her interview after the jump.
