Critics Pretty Much Agree Anne Hathaway And James Franco Sucked As Oscar Hosts

Critics across the board found the risky Oscar host choice of Anne Hathaway and James Franco as disastrous as we did.

“In what could go down as one of the worst Oscar telecasts in history, a bad and risky idea — letting two actors host — proved out in spectacularly unwatchable fashion on the biggest of all nights for the film world,” the Hollywood Reporter blasted. OK, maybe they weren’t that bad, but it definitely wasn’t good.

It’s been noted that once the hosts both realized that no one in the audience was laughing and they were, how do you say, sucking, they responded in completely different ways to the blow, and seemed as though were on entirely different planets! Read more after the jump.

While Anne got some credit for at least trying to ham up and hold the show together (while looking fab), James was universally panned for giving up on the show. What I mean is, it looked like James Franco would have sawed his arm off to get out of hosting the rest of the Oscars.

“Hathaway worked her derriere off,” The Washington Post wrote, “and Franco came off like that lacrosse boy you wish your daughter didn’t hang out with so much, sort of heavy-lidded and smirky.”

Let’s hope these two had a stiff drink later…

What? I really enjoyed these two youn ones. I enjoyed them much better than Letterman. They were as good as Hugh Jackman. I thought they did very well… I only watched and hour or so and during that time, I enjoyed the both of them as hosts.
