Here’s Dakota Fanning looking all grown up in her slick navy blue one-piece on Monday, while promoting her freshly premiered sci-fi thriller, Push on the Late Show with David Letterman.
In Push, Dakota plays a 14-year-old psychic whose predictive
powers – and abilities to protect the world from lethal war – are
magnified by alcohol. Naturally. Great excuse to hit the bottle, right?
Here are some of the highlights from Dakota’s recent interview with Parade Magazine about her provocative new role – and then some.
On carrying around a gun:
‘It’s definitely for protection. It’s not like she’s slinging around
a
gun and killing people. I just think that as you get older, there’s
more things that you can do in films. My character is a true
14-year-old — kind of rebellious. She has a very sassy attitude and
that was very fun to get to explore in this film. She says and does
things that I never would.’
‘It’s definitely being discussed but it’s not set in stone. It would be really cool to be a part of Twilight
if it works out…I would be a vampire, which could really prove that I
can be sweet, little Dakota Fanning and then I can be something
different on the screen.’
On being starstruck by Britney Spears:
‘I remember when I was very little my idol was Britney Spears. I
had just come to California and that’s just who I wanted to meet. So I
was in a store and she walked in and my jaw just fell to the floor. I
started like sweating. I could not believe that I was meeting her. She
told me that I was very cute. And I lost it — I was so excited.’
Awww. Ok, seriously, this totally explains Dakota’s fascination with
super powers. Any Britney music video is like a miniature sci-fi
movie. But with a decent soundtrack. And patent leather.

She’s growing up to be a fine young lady. Definitely will be a force in the future. She reminds me of Jodi Foster.
Is it just me, or is she a mini/younger Hayden Panettiere?
i am so happy at how well and gracefully she is growing up! she is age appropriate and beautiful!
Something about her reminds me of the olsen twins, if they weren’t complete skanks.
I’ve watched her movie “HOUND DOG” and she was brilliant! I never knew a young girl could possibly get into such an enigmatic performance. She rocks! More power Dakota!

If you have to do it, you might as well do it right.
