Soccer legend David Beckham was just named the face of Belstaff for the British luxury lifestyle brand’s Spring/Summer 2014 global campaign. Beckham will be photographed by Peter Lindbergh in the Steve McQueen-inspired shoot
David was on hand as Belstaff opened its long-delayed store at 135 New Bond Street last night with a full-throttle party.
Speaking to Vogue at the launch, the star said: “I’ve always loved motorbikes. But I’ve never really been allowed to ride them. “Obviously now that I’ve finished playing, it’s enabled me to spend more time on my bikes, which is great. It’s good to be here.”
So how does he feel about being the new face of Belstaff? Beckham stated, “The reasons I am excited about becoming part of this brand are A) Because it is such an historical, British brand and B) Because Steve McQueen was one of the first people to be part of Belstaff and I am a huge fan of his. Just to be part of this, as a biker, is great: after so many years of playing football I now spend a lot of time riding bikes. And to have clothes like that is great.”
