David Slade Signs On As ‘Eclipse’ Director

April 23rd, 2009 // 9 Comments

With the Twilight sequel New Moon just having begun filming, those executives at Summit Entertainment sure don’t waste time planning ahead for their franchise. The studio has lined up David Slade, director of 30 Days of Night and the teen revenge thriller Hard Candy, has been chosen to direct the third film in the Twilight series, Eclipse.

E! Online reports, “I am thrilled that David Slade will be directing Eclipse,” Meyer said in a statement Wednesday. “He’s a visionary filmmaker who has so much to offer this franchise.”

Added Summit president of production Erik Feig: “Stephenie Meyer’s Eclipse is a muscular, rich, vivid book and we at Summit looked long and hard for a director who could do it justice. We believe we have found that talent in David Slade, a director who has been able to create complex, visually arresting worlds.”

Did Summit Entertainment pick the right director? Who do you think they should have picked?

*finds this article to be unintentionally hilarious*

I’ve got to hand it to them though, they know the minds of fangirls. They recognize the fact that if they let the craze die down for even one month and their audience is going to find something else to go apeshit over. Twilight is a fad, thankfully it’ll die off quickly after the fourth movie.
