Jared Leto, actor and front man of the band 30 Second to Mars, may have a successful music career, but some in the music industry don’t seem to see him as a real musician. Ben Gibbard and Nick Harmer from Death Cab For Cutie recently spoke Spinner magazine about Jared’s insincerity as a musician. Nick told the magazine, “Not to throw anyone under the bus, but Jared Leto and his band 30 Seconds to Mars — he’s acting the part.” Well he is an actor.
Ben then said basically the same thing, “He’s a professional actor in music; so there’s no way to feel any sincerity about his position as a musician… Because he makes a living playing characters — so why wouldn’t he be able to take a step forward? Then you’re also acting what you think a rock star should act like.”
They both agreed that Jared’s fans and others seem to enjoy the act, but in their minds it’s just a stunt.
Leave it to Death Cab to say something mean but make it sound so sincere and nice. But really, can’t we all just get along?
