E News is reporting that Sum 41′s Deryck Whibley has been hospitalized after a bar fight occurred in Japan involving three people. His band mates tweeted the news early Friday. The Japanese police are said to be investigating.

There is no news yet on the extent of his injuries or why he has yet to leave the hospital, but reps are saying that he is, “unfortunately still in the hospital” and his friends are “waiting for results and hoping for the best.”

Sum 41 was supposed to play the Summer Sonic Festival this week in Osaka and Tokyo, but postponed their shows to save Deryck’s vocal chords. A case of bronchitis threatened to permanently damage his ability to sing.
