Now that Hannah McKay is back in Dexter’s life, he is doing everything he can to protect her.
In this episode of Showtime’s Dexter, Elway hires a U.S. Marshall to find Hannah and so Dex does the thing he promised he’d never do, have Hannah live with Deb.
Deb isn’t too pleased, but for some odd out of character reason she goes along with this hair brained idea. There are four episodes left of the entire series and at this point viewers have gotten used to inconsistency and rule breaking, so Hannah living with Debra? Fine.
Angel wants Deb to come back to the station and be a detective. Quinn enlists her help to catch Zach, who he thinks killed Cassie. The two realize that Cassie’s boyfriend Oliver Saxon seems suspicious just about the time Dexter realizes the same. After they interview Saxon at his home Quinn kisses Deb and she shrugs it off.
Dexter finds out that the brain surgeon, who left a lock of hair at Zach’s murder site, is somehow related to her. She admits she did have two sons, one who died at the hands of another who was put away in a mental hospital which burned down. She hands him a photo of her son Daniel whom Dexter runs a facial progression on and realizes that Daniel is actually Oliver Saxon, Cassie’s boyfriend and Zach’s killer.
Hannah still needs to get her money from Arlene, so Dexter stops by with her right before the Marshall shows up to question the single mom. Hannah hides in the bedroom while Dexter pretends he is dating Arlene. The Marshall buys it.
Elway confronts Deb about her investigation into Hannah, realizing that Dexter once dated her and Deb kept that information from him. He is angry and tells her to get out if she is going to betray him like that.
When Dexter tells Vogel that Daniel is alive she wants to meet him and put him into another home. Dexter wants to kill him, but plays along with Vogel so she will write in her computer journal about her son’s favorite cafe, wait for Daniel to hack into her files and see the entry, and meet him there to capture him. Dex gives Vogel some tea with Hannah’s sleep drug so he can follow Daniel, but unfortunately the dude realizes that Dexter is on his tail and slashes his tires. When Dex tells Vogel she says she will handle it and that her and Dexter’s relationship is over since she can no longer trust him. After he leaves, it is revealed that Daniel is at Vogel’s house after all and that they are having breakfast together. He wanted her to prove that she didn’t send Dexter after him and now he is satisfied.
Dexter promises Hannah that they will both take Harrison and run away together to Argentina to live as a family. It seems that Daniel may put a kink in this plan.
